I ordered my M17 back on Nov. 6th. There was and issue with a change and had to be redone on the 10th. Since then it has been stuck in phase 2. I started calling in regularly starting around the 12th. They first told me it was back orders on the ATI cards. Then I was told that there was an issue with my ATA card. But when I checked the balance, I saw they had already charged me for the laptop. Now they are telling me again that the ATI cards are on back order. I have been really patient and calm, but I'm really getting annoyed with all the running around they are giving me. Is anyone stuck in phase 2 or receiving similar problems?
-
My M15X has been stuck in phase 2 for 5 days.....It was supposed to be shipped within a week now i don't see that happening.....
-
My M17 has been stuck in phase4 since the 12th. My guess they are selling these things faster than they thought and are out of parts. Not sure whats going on but I thought I would have mine by thanksgiving. guess not
-
cde im in the same boat as you they have givin me constant bs about back ordered parts and im phoning in right now. ive bee in phase 2 since the day i ordered..... supposivly they received the ati cards 2day and my laptop *should* be shipped on monday. but for some strange reason i highly doubt it ;/
-
I think AW didn't think the M17 would sell that well and didn't order enough parts in advanced.
-
Just went to Phase 3
-
still in phase 2 for 16 days :/
-
i got my m17 in less than 10 days, but there was issue, now I have to wait like you guys.
ps. my first m17 was ordered few hrs from it was released. -
they may have not anticipated the responses for buying the units to be as great as they are, or maybe the makers of the gpu's experienced a back log themselves...maybe the parts were on one of the highjacked transport ships that the pirates got and the company had to bust arse to get them replaced...
so please just dont consider them giving you BS unless you have 100% proof they are. just not right. -
Speaking of those pirates, countries should team up and beat them up. Because, essentially, we are feeding them now, the costs are pay by consumers.
-
All it would take is a Carrier sitting out there with air support to respond to any reports of pirates. The question is, do the jets use missiles or switch to guns? Another solution, give Special Operations teams "vacations" yachting up and down the pirate coasts and they get additional perks for every pirate they come across and dispose of. Expenses: Yacht rental, fire power, and periodic resupplies of rations and Captain Morgan.
But on the Phase 2 thing, I am feeling the pain. Especially when "Joe" told me my M17 would be shipped the 22nd of November. I had called to fix the credit card "fraud alert" and re-authorize the payment. He volunteered the date without me asking. And I then asked 3 times to check that again and made sure he was clear. They have already charged my account, but it is still in “Phase 2: (Billing),” the day they told me for shipping. It is one thing for the process to take a long time, but don't spit on me and tell me its raining.
I am just trying to throw it out there for AW to see that they have not made this a good purchasing experience. -

I cancelled my order for an M17 because I expect a company to adhere to their ship date, especially when the initial estimated date is two weeks away.
Online update system is inadequate to track, but you can call and check. My system was in Phase 1,2,3,2,3,4 and then the date was tentatively switched to the 28th and I can't just take a chance, especially on a ~$3800 system. When I can order a DIY from Newegg and have it here in 48hrs and it's basically the same thing (sans the Extreme Quad Core). Or I can go with Xotic, RJ, KN or many other vendors. Heck, even Zipzoomfly (formerly googlegear) will have them in stock soon.
The one thing AW has that I can't find anyplace else, though, is the 1440x900 option.
Meh, maybe I'm just extremely gun shy with AW since the M-ALX debacle and my tolerance is low. I do miss the 19" screen on the M-ALX though. It has spoiled me, heh. -

Never Ryujin. if only to keep that smile on your face. I'm glad your M15x gives you warm fuzzies, though.

darn the luck....

i love how ryu comes in here in July, not knowing what a lot of people went through and just throw his absolute fanboyism around. Refreshing for sure. Maybe you should go to the other notebookforums. that aw forum is ALL fanboys who get people banned if they have a complaint about aw.
-
I am no fanboys of AW, but I did extensive research, benchmark and review for AW M17, do I get banned for getting a Meltdown M17?
-
in case NONE of you noticed...the wording on the AW site says "ESTIMATED SHIP DATE"
there is no garauntee, in this day and age of a 100% delivery time...and yet everyone gets upset and starts pouting and ranting about delays and not met ship dates etc...
and i have no clue where this banned issue came up....that is something jah put in his own head... -
much of the information (when sifted thru) is valuable for people, but to just up and complain about shipping times when certain things are outside of AW's control is not forthcoming of a resaonable consumer.
as far as getting people banned - not sure what planet your on, but i once never petitioned to get him banned...
get your facts before you assume what you know not. -

Hey....
HEY!!!!!!!!.....
I love everybody
Obviously AW must be doing something right because they keep on keeping on. But I tend to fish out the bad reports/responses to weigh against the fanboys and those who are lurkers. All I can do is speak from personal experience and proffer up my trials and tribulations with AW. The same as anybody on these forums. The content of one's character is in the dark times, not the light. -

I think was bugs me the most out of all of this is that I originally ordered this on the 6th. Right after I placed the order I noticed I forgot an upgrade (LCD screen). So I promptly called up Alienware to make the change. After I noticed I was stuck in phase 2 for 4 days I called them up to see how progress was going. They then noticed that the order was messed up and canceled the previous order to create a new one. The order went through on the 11th.
I keep kicking myself in the pants because I pretty sure it would be shipping this week (noticed a lot of other people that ordered it around the 6th now being shipped this week), but because of this screw up I'm going to be back ordered for who knows how long. Most likely I'm just getting frustrated. It just bums me to hear the same story from AW and see the online phase stuck on the same thing for so many days. -
After reading all these posts, it actually makes me feel better to know my M17 has been sitting in Phase 2 since November 17th. While I haven't been waiting as long as some, I have contacted Alienware via the email support and telephone and got some disturbing information. The first email stated that the website updates were incorrect, and the order was actually in Phase 4. The first phone call stated that the order was actually getting ready to be shipped. The second email said the order was actually still in Phase 4. So my last phone call today, actually said the process was still in Phase 2.
I've decided to just be more patient. After reading these forums and seeing just how delayed everyone else's orders are, I feel better knowing I'm not alone.
This will be my first Alienware purchase ever, and I'm hopefully going to be purchasing again in the future, but a lot hinges on this experience. So far it's average at best. -
The graphic card came into the shops last week, still trying to organize to the stock. The keyboard is still out, hopefully coming in this week and which take few days to organize.
So, this whole week is going to be out. -
Thanks for the update Fusion. If you hear anything else, let us know!
All I get are people that speak English as a 2nd language when I call, and while they attempt to be helpful, they've all given me different answers. -
hey guys finally my 17 ships tomorrow!!! and they upgraded me to express shipping so it will get here on friday! This will make me feel better because i feel like crap because of my eyebrows.
-
For some reason, all are express shippin.
yes, i get updates from roswell, and they know me when i call in, they must have caller id. But that doesn't mean they dont BS me though. -
express shipping for only M17?
-
they may have been offered this as a consolation to having the units late due to backorders and limited supply of parts.
-
Wow just ordered my system today and I am already on phase 3. According to the page anyway
But seriously this is bad if I orderd a m15x and I am on phase 3 in 5 hours. Then again I DID use paypal to make the order go smoothly and its working so far
. I definitely suggest paypal when making any online purchases. Its so fast!
-
I am sure you will be in phase 3 or 4 for few more days. -
-
Ok, go to bed now then.
o wait, you ordered m15x. Then I dont know anything about it. -
You know the worst part (no pun intended) waiting on that new system after the estimated date, kinda like waiting to open your X-Mas presents till January 8th. -
I know what you mean but no regular set-up for me. No quick ship or anything.
-
Still waiting to get off Phase 2 on the website...also emailed support early yesterday for an accurate status and no reply.
My patience will last until about Christmas, then it will be order cancel time. 4 weeks without ANY communication from Alienware, other than the contact I've initiated, isn't the greatest customer service when you're spending $4500 on a machine. -

I ordered mine roughly two weeks ago. Called them today and was told there'd be a slight delay due to the video card and illuminated keyboard needing to be ordered.
Slight insight into at least one cause of any M17 delays.

Good Luck to yea! -
I went from phase 1 - 4 in like 1 day
-
ive been in phase 1 since WEDNESDAY!!!
-
depending on your payment method, that may be completely normal.
-
The factories have been taking a break for the thanksgiving, so delay my purchase to next Mon, which I expect to arrive at the end of the week for my m15x
hm....two weeks since i ordered..... dang holidays!! -
Well i have to wait for parts.....2 weeks...then building and shipping.... xmas!!! be lucky if i see it this year, more than likely run into january
-
Web
what did you buy? -
That's pretty weird.
-
I started calling Roswell instead of the regular customer service. I was told that the keyboard should be in today and they didn't have an estimated date when the ATI card would be in. More then likely I won't see my rig till mid Dec.
-
I've been having trouble locating the Roswell number in Google, but I've heard from the customer service the same thing about the delay on the ATI cards. They told me to contact them again later in the week for an update on it. What's strange is it's still in Phase 2. I'm guessing they haven't billed the account, since I'm using an Alienware account to purchase it from. They don't want the bills to start coming before the product arrives.
-
In the same boat here...9 days in Phase 2. I contacted them and this was their response...blah blah blah
My account showed it was charged the balance on day 2 of my order... just going to wait it out and see what happens...been through this before.
-
Even though it says I'm in phase 2, I'm actually in phase 3 or 4. They will use financing as an excuse for the delay, but really it's parts. In a couple of days I will have hit a month wait. Hopefully they get things moving this week. If not, I may start looking elsewhere because my current laptop is starting to fail bad.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't mind waiting for his M17.
