okay so i have my friends laptop, and his wife split a cup of wine on it and it shut down and wont go back on. I talked to the support people they said they don't cover spills. when you got to turn it one with the battery in the power button flash's orange, the battery light flashes blue so does the screen light, and with only DC power it does the same but the power button is flashing blue.

I think the cup of wine caused a short somewhere, probably going to break out the bottal of alcohol and cotton swabs and clean it out.

i have tried the reset but nothing, let me know what you guys think.

    What a bummer.

A short is very likely. Looks like your friend will have to pay for the repairs.

I know this won't help him now but.........I insure my laptop through Safeware.

It covers spills and much, much more. I just can't afford to loose the cost of my rig.

    Good luck.

Well i think you've messed up the warranty by telling them you spilt something. I would've said before phoning them to clean it out and remove all evidence of a spill and then phone them up and get it repaired under the warranty :)
Although really dont have wine around the computer in the first place and you dont have a problem :p

i personally dont support fraud and there are sticker in there that can tell them if there was water damage .....

if you break it you buy it your fault plain and simple .......

you can pay for AW to fix it or you can find a Cheap OCZ whitebook motherboard to put in there ..... i know some one who might be able to get you one i don't know how much

Yeah he called them before he talked to me, i yelled at him for doing that, he just got it 4 months ago and his wife wanted to hit up myspace and this happens.

Im going to see what i can do im sure its dead, but as a computer tech i wont go down without a fight, but worst comes to worst i will just tell him he has to send it in.

    Thanks you for the reply's.

If you're lucky it's just one GPU.

I would suggest making sure that the laptop fully dries before attempting to turn it on again. Then when it is dry to somehow clean the motherboard, GPU, etc. with an electronic cleaner spray. If it still does not work, then I suggest your Friend's wife pay up. Has she offered to pay for the damge she has done even though it was an accident ??

The laptop belongs to her husband so I think she's gonna pay one way or the other. ;)

To take a quote from family guy

"I sit through this and later tonight I get anal...

You hear me? No matter how neat I want the house you have to clean it."
