So My setup will be a Core 2 2.4 with dual 9800gt. So what would the speed increase and what is the best drivers for the 9800gt.

haha the "speed increase" should be barely noticable ;)

as for drivers, 180.48 are the bomb for gaming.

Well I did not have the funds for the high end. So I went for the low end. Which in a long run save me some money.

By looking at the 8800gtx I would guess 80% in gaming power.

    My 3dmarks 6 7008
    8800gtx 3dmarks 6 close to 13000 in score.

Almost 90% in speed increase. Mostly 80% to 85% But it better then what I have.

Hello everyone I'm new here so please don't be to hard on me, but I haven't heard anything about upgrading GPU's so it's possible in Alienware laptops? Could anyone give me the low down on how this works is it manually done or do you ship it to alienware? The reason being that I've been looking at Alienware laptops recently, but don't have the cash right now to go all out on one, but if there was a way I could buy the laptop now with a decent configuration then upgrade the GPU later that would be great.

Most laptops that have a entergraded gpu can not be upgraded. But in Alienware case The gpu are like Desktop GPU Which can be pulled out and put a new one in.

Alienware Sending me the Two 9800gt. On the Alienware site there a how to guide on upgrading the GPUs for the M17X. The one thing they forget to show you is the SLI Brige that connects the Two Gpus.

I've been searching their site but haven't been able to find the prices or anything for upgrading the gpu's. How much was your upgrade if you don't mind me asking?

Ok tonight I have my dual 9800gt grapics But the Sli Brige is differnt from the 8600gt. So I will have to order a sli brige. to take the Full Effect of the two gpus. But I will still get 30% speed increase with just one card. Looking at the M15X with 8800gtx and 3dmarks 06 10,000+.

Oh man this is funny. They sent the wrong type of card. It was the 9800gt I would guess a M15X or M17. But it should of had the fan and such to come with it for the M17X major bummer but It not major problem.

Basicly I had the computer open the two 8600gt out useing the Alienware How do I reseat or replace the Master Video Card of the Alienware Area-51 m17x mobile system? Then called Alienware. What they sent was the just the cards. The tech check a M17X and was they sent you the wrong type of cards.

But it was a good time to Clean out the fans and reinstall the dual 8600gt.

One thing I will say about the M17X is Installing anything on it easy. No paste, No 100 screws and so on.

Bummer next week I will have the 9800gt lol.

Ya I know brainer. When I frist got the Laptop it was due to my M5550 had so much trouble. But I a choice a M15X with a 8700gt or a M17X with sli 8600. Watching the trouble with the M15X and hinge and looking at M17X with dual 8600 sli was faster then a single 8700. So I payed low and upgraded.
