M17X Delays

Ya the WUXGA panel is holding everyone back , when you place your order now and pick that screen it says delay of up to 5days so people are not left guessing . Hopefully they will have fixed this soon and everyones systems will ship right away .

 

yea that came up over 5 days ago...... its what is holding my system back

 

thank god I need reading glasses. I knew my bad eyes would be good for something. 1440x900 for the win My computer is in boxing stage 1 week from order date.

 

Highest quality lcd panel... rofl

not imo.. not with the ones that I have seen... Yea there are worse ones out there but these are not uber themselves.

Its actually the only part of the sytem i do not like..

 

Well i got the WUXGA screen as well and i hope i am happier then you Killthro , i can be very picky when it comes to screens but hopefully not as much as you are .

 

Yeah, the Dell guy kinda put a + spin on it...lol

He was correct by saying that these panels are specially made for AW, but I think that just applies more to how they are being fitted in the E2E display (not necessarily the "special, highest-quality" part )

Anyway, it's good to know that if you need the M17x sooner you can get it pretty quick by getting the WXGA panel (you probably could order today and get it before someone who ordered 3 weeks ago).

 

Well hopefully this also means they contracted someone else to make panels for them as this is what i was hoping all along . I found it strange they would only have one manufacture doing everything when in the past it was LG, Samsung, Sharp handling the bulk of it and this is done for the very reason of holding up production.

 

well when u have to look at it all the time you want it to be good.. I know screen arent perfect but man... this is buggin the crap out of me...

 

samsung did it and it was a contract by the sounds of it ....

Samsung reps don't even know anything about it

 

I'm glad I got the 1440x900 display. In the boxing stage after just over five days.

 

jesus i have been building for 14 days ... how long does it take ?

I do get kinda mad they BS like that and can lie like that .....its more then a 5 day delay

 

Moo was that same 5 day thing up when you ordered ?.

 

yes it was put up like 24-25 i think

 

I'm hoping it means switching over to new panels as well....Starting at the first few pages of the LCD threads and it's complaints, I wrote an email warning them of the dangers of continuing to use a subpar LCD and my concerns as a future buyer to one of the lead engineers of AW (long story how I got his email) around the same time 3 people here had sent theirs back for an LCD replacement and one other person wrote an email as well expressing concern about the LCD quality. I really doubt a measly 5 people who all happened to write emails or return their systems for replacements at the same caused a major reversal though. The engineer said that they were investigating the matter and would take appropriate action if there were problems found, a week later and there are massive LCD delays...who knows. They did send me a mug for taking the time out to outline some of the user complaints to them, when a package showed up from AW I was hoping for like the new AW G9 mouse but NO, just a measly mug, gotta admit it's a pretty nice mug TBH.

Not sure what you mean? I doubt there's some big conspiracy or anything or that AW tried to pull a fast one on the first gen users..

 

It does seem like it might be something like that because they would run out of something other then screens first.

Now they have been out a week ?

Sometimes waiting a little bit pays off and, in my case, I hope it does

 

I can only hope that they get a better quality screen. If they do and I can get it, i will be uber happy..

 

Its very possible that we could get new panels and that would be fantastic and well worth the wait . If my order gets delayed because of that very reason then so be it since i know i would be happier in the long run(though im not holding my breath for a new panel and they really just ran short and are waiting for more).

 

That's the thing - I really don't mind waiting now that I know the M17x is my laptop of choice

 

If that's true then I'm glad I haven't ordered yet. I'll hold off a bit longer then take the plunge.
