    Hi everyone,
I was wondering if any else has been having issues with the HDMI sound. Based on what I've tested so far, the HDMI port only works with the 260/280 video cards. The port is disabled for the 9400. Also, when I use the HDMI port, the audio instantly distorts and begins to pop. Occasionally, it will sound similar to raising the volume on TV (with the feedback and popping getting louder and louder). As soon as I switch back to the internal speakers, the sound is normal. I'm beginning to think that there is an issue with the audio driver.

    Things I've tried:
    1. Restarting the computer with/without HDMI plugged in
    2. Double checking to make sure that it's not in stealth mode
    3. Changing all the audio options in the IDT manager (doesn't affect it)
    4. Disabling the audio channels that aren't in use (only HDMI)

Oddly enough, I've never had any issues using HDMI on any of my other computers.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Try uninstall the IDT drivers and use the generic one.

    Hi namaiki,
I was actually going to try that next. I was just wondering if anyone managed to get it to work with the IDT drivers.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Maybe try disabling any power saving features that the audio device might have in device manager.

    Hi Boomer,
Thanks for the reply. I figured it was in the audio driver.....actually both audio drivers. I guess I'm just going to have to use the default vista drivers until it's resolved.

    Thanks,
    Gabe
