Hi Everyone,
I recently tried to install a retail version of Windows Vista Ultimate, and to my surprise, I can't. I'm not sure if this holds true for the service pack editions, but I guess old vista packs don't have support for SCSI based drives. Consequently, this driver is not available for download. Has anyone tried a service pack 1 edition other than the restore disc?
Update: It's actually a SATA DVD drive, but Vista reads it as a SCSI.
Thanks,
Gabe

weird....
why would it not? seems there should be an option or are the SCSI so different as to not? (if you know what i mean....i know they are different, but cant see why an OS would not recognize it) -
Have you tried loading default SATA drivers from a USB memory card or a floppy drive?
All you need to do is press F6 when it says so, and windows will probe for the driver when necessary

Hi,
After playing with all the options and doing some research, I had to switch the hard drive mode to ATA before Windows Ultimate would install. Keep in mind that SATA drivers aren't available for download on this model.... so this is the only choice. I'm guessing there might be a very slight performance decrease, but it will only be minor. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
OS: Vista Ultimate (this is not the service pack edition)
Mode: ATA (would like to go with ACHI)
Driver: SATA (they aren't available yet)
