    Guys,

Any idea of a UK Release date for the M17X?

I don't see any mention of it on the .co.uk site.

    Cheers!

Isn't it normally about a month or so after the releases on the US website?

Hmm... I'll be in the UK for a vacation then. Wonder if I should chance getting it shipped to the UK instead of Singapore.

For the M15x, it was 1 month.

For the new Area-51, it was 1 or 2 weeks I think..

It's hard to say but one month seems to be more credible.

Maybe we can also think that for the m15x there were not enough raw materials to build for US and European customers in the same time at the beginning.
If you think that the late release of the m17x is due to technical problems it could be less than 1 month.

I don't think there is a real rule.

When it will come to UK, it should also come with the option of a single card. Maybe there are people that don't need two cards and maybe tons of people will avoid buying it with two cards.

Is it a possibilty that they've lowered the price when they release it in UK as it's so close to montevina?

It would be good if you could switch one off, power saving etc.
I agree though, it makes sense.

Zetterberg, i'm not sure on the lowering the price...usually we get stung for Tax etc... lol

The US price seems very reasonable. I tried configuring one with a T9300, dual 8800M GTXes, a 200GB 16MB cache HDD and it came up to about $3819. Not too shabby for the power you're getting.

I wonder if Montevina will be worth the wait. How much in terms of battery life, heat, and performance will it even bring?

It's a difficult issue, basically not much over the Sante-Rosa at the moment as this can only be judged properly when the new type or Penryn's are released and as for performance the first mobile Quad-core processors will be availabel next year, so a bit or a wait for the next "performance" processors for Montevina.

The Clevo uses a desktop processor to gain the quad-core processor option on there spec list. It's a selling point but it's not a mobile processor therefore not efficient so...

Personally i'm not prepared to wait almost a year for the new performance processors...

By the time its abailable over here - well montevina will probably be available
So thing is which ya gonna choose, obviously this system is mererly a moveable desktop, those 8800s will suck the life out of any battery, so thats not why i wan't montevina its just that next year when quads do come out it'd be nice to have the option of upgrading.

I was thinking of buying a battery pack - saw one with pretty massive battery life but lugging that about and the m17x - I'd need to start some serious weight training...

I really think though, that they will offer it as a new system (same m17x chassis but different motherboard, ram, processor etc..) why else would they run this video thing in june - only other big product coming out that I can think of is the gaming monitor but that won't be out till 09 so what would they have to announce???

Well I really hope they do. As is I've got till end of june to hand over the money so I might wait a bit yet, Though I probably will get the m17x
I would like though to see if there's any teething probs
    (hope not)
