Some ppl on this forum claim on having 3+ hours of battery life. I'd like to ask how did you guys manage to achieve this?
I'm only getting around 2 hours with min brightness and a p8700cpu.

ROFL Moo, might as well turn the machine off and start counting. My intention is to use the laptop for some 1-2hour mobile presentations. But if there's no min web browsing, that sux. I can hardly agree on min brightness but no web? Well 2 hours it is.... Just thought that if this http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Alienware-M17x-Gaming-Notebook.18781.0.html was achieved with qx9300 I should easily reach 3 hours when surfing with WLAN with p8700.

forgot my cable one day last week and managed to squeeze 2hours 15 out it while watching a movie and browsing the net

took off my cpu overclock and took it down to stock speeds

screen brightness is a major power consumer, so had that turned down

also used the All Dark alienfx theme posted by Batboy which turns off all the LED lights:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5390350&postcount=68

then i shut down all unnecessary processes, almost got me to the end of Watchmen, damn long film =D

You could also just select 'Go Dark' and uncheck the option to keep status zones lit when going dark. Then its just a simple FN+F11 and then right-click on the little alien head to shut that process down as well. ;)

I really have been meaning to test the battery life. Perhaps this weekend. Each time I have had to go on battery for a bit, I just love seeing that battery meter read like 3.5 hours (even though we all know its not true).
