Uau... what a completely outdated computer! :D
I agree... how is it possible that AW (such a renown company) is releasing the M17x in the UK now, when Clevo is releasing a new laptop with Montevina platform and (in the near future) with 9800mGTX dual SLIs?
Really... is AW only about the brand name? I really can't see anything else besides that...

    Ill quote from Sager/Clevo forum:

Montevina is a great platform and I, myself will be getting it; but don't let yourself believe you neeed ddr3, and with that compromise in mind don't think that a 9800m GT and a montevina will offer better performance in GAMING than a 8800M GTX and santa-rosa. You have to remember, in games that actually benefit from ddr3 that the montevina 9800m GT will, maybe at BEST tie the santa rosa 8800m GTX. Put them in a game that doesn't benefit from memory speed such as, say, Oblivion, you will see that the 8800m GTX outmuscles the 9800m GT>

Enough said..Yes i believe AW did a really wrong marketing policy about M17X but saying that this machine is outdated or old tech is completely wrong..

    DevlReD... You are wrong!

9800mGT is better than the 8800m GTX and beats it at least in games like Crysis and Devil May Cry 4 (or whatever). Independently of the memory you use...
More... don't compare the 8800GTX on the M17x with the 9800GT. Compare it with the 9800GTX Dual SLI that is going to be offered on the 17'' from Clevo.

So, if you are going to quote, at least try and quote from the right places:

Ok i will not argue like are doing in Clevo forums for these 2 cards for days now milcs, for me seems like 2 identical cards in performance with 1 fps diference(posted by a reseller),saying that m17x is old tech bec of a 1 fps difference i think is too much, man we didnt even saw a review of a 8800 sli m17x..
Anyway This thread was to inform ppl that were waiting for months now(like myself) that m17x is finally avail in Europe..

just don't get either as it's cheap plastic, at least the 15...with to much heat

this is what Montevina would fix as less heat and mobo

blah blah blah, wall of text. ooooo nooooo not .5 - 1 FPS more....

I really don't see why you think it's your personal duty to correct everyone over the smallest things. Go back to your don't buy an Alienware threads.

Dev, I agree with you... I am far from wanting to start a discussion.
My initial post was just a small joke... and a bit of what I think.
As you say, very few people received the M17x (full speced). And it just strikes me as odd, when you have Clevo starting to produce a 17'' laptop, with Montevina platform, Quad CPUs, 9800GTX SLI, etc, etc...
So yes, even if the performance might not be huge... the M17x is old tech (old being... it's not the new tech anymore).
Now, if you consider that it will take at least 1 month for the M17x to start shipping in the UK... I just think it is a bit lack of strategy on AW's side.

But again... AW lives of what they are good at... image (and, in my humble opinion, that's the only thing they are good at).

    @Shinok - Hein!?!?!

Again, for non-tech end users there is NO "noticeable" technological jump there. I agree however that Xotic/PN prices are really ownage. (and this kind of buyer are the majority around there).

But for tech-fans (= self notebook upgraders) the clevo is the way to go, since there is far more "upgrade space" duo the new platform, which will be outdated middle to end next year.

And, "yet to be confirmed stuff" should stay away from this forums until someone gets a unit and review it. Since 9800GTX sli ETA is sometime in august, IF there is no change (like it happened with the m860).
