Thats some price rise, the base price for the UK M17X has always been £1499, its now gone up to £1,608 which is a £109 hike in price.

Whats that all about ? Its some price rise, were already getting ripped off in the UK compared to US prices. That price hike is for both the single and crossfire systems, its still listing the 4870 in crossfire so the price hike can`t be for new 5870`s in crossfire.

Thats certainly pushing me towards the Asus G73JH now as the price for a single graphics card system on the M17X is crazy.

Not to me it won`t so thats one sale they have lost, a £109 price hike is rediculous. Its not like they have including anything new to justify that sort of increase.

I think this is due to the weakening of the British Pound against other currencies, hence importing has become more expensive :(

It's not like we got a big drop in prices when the €/$ parity hit €1 against $1,50+ :D

ps : apparently M17x went up from more than 50€ too.

Exactly! I wouldn`t of minded if Dell had added some new hardware or something worth the £109 increase but they havn`t, in fact they are charging you more for the base system plus they have now added an option where you have to pay extra for wireless.

This option which is £20 extra

    Intel® Wireless LAN 6300 3x3 802.11a/b/g/n card (EUR) [add £20.00 or £1/month1]

    Dell Recommended

In my opinion all of us in Europe pay much more for electronics just to cover super low prices in US :)

But think about not just the Pound vs Euro or USD but the strong asian currencies, most of the laptops are made in China, hence paid for in Chinese yuan, with the weak Dollar and Pound, its costing more to make these in Pound terms, hence why its getting more expensive, Apple also slightly increased their prices as well. The pound is just getting hit real bad (so is the euro for that matter) but anyway...not luck for us living in the UK and earning in Pounds :((((((
