edit- sorry for my grammar and spelling im slightly dyslexic

hay guys, im pretty new here so not sure how the post system really works!

I just thought it would b good for people to put issues or problems that people are seeing with there M17x. I know alot dont have theirs yet, i just ordered mines a few days ago in the UK.

So far all feed back seems good! main issues which ive read about are as follows, the screen, volume control buttons!

i know the lcd is just a passive thing, due to the Cathoid tubes (not sure techincal name)
Is this issue with the control buttons fixed with a update in software if its released? or is it a hardware issue? im no expert so opionions on the matter would be great!

    thnx again guys =)

Totally offtopic but if you only ordered a few days ago in the UK, you'll be waiting anohter month or two for your laptop and this problems thread will be lost in the abyss. :p

I think he might actually be talking about some of the coils on the actual card. I remember my gtx 260 desktop card did the same thing. Seems to happen more often when you get fps over 100. forcing triple buffered vsync in nvidia control panel usually fixed it for me. Limits your frames to 60 but won't give you the massive fps drop like vsync does if frames fall below 60.

Yes you specifically hear it when the GPU starts getting hit harder than normal like when running 3dmark06. It's a screeching noise most don't hear when playing games because it gets drowned out. When using 3dmark06 w/ no sound you can hear it.

Well then I don't have to worry about that. I'll leave 3dmark06 up to you Mandrake.

Ah I know that noise, I used to get the exact same thing with my desktop 8800 GT. At first I didn't notice it, but once I did, I always heard it and was aware of it... Very annoying.

Yes exactly. In a previous system I had I never noticed it until I ran 3dmark06. After that I could hear it in the games.

The only problem I have is I don't have one ;)
But I have never heard any noise running 3DMARK 06, just the fans spooling up.
    Is that noticable?

Really? I've never heard anything of the sort on my desktop 8800GT.

That may be down to the fact that it's got a Zalman cooler on it and actually runs cooler than my CPU even when it's overclocked (lol) but I didn't hear it even for the year before I installed the new fan. (I wanted to reduce my temps because they seemed too high even for the 8800, however I then found upon opening it that whatever prat built it in the shop left the clear plastic film on top of the fan...)

Maybe it's a defect in some of the cards.

I'm aware of the coil noise. I've had it with a few different brands of laptops. Fortunately enough, my m17x doesn't do it. I've been playing several games like crysis, assasins creed, far cry 2, and gears of war. Crysis seems to get it wrapped up pretty good. When I use to be out in the field repairing several Dell computers, I use to notice that some of them would instantly have the coil noise, where others were silent.
