I'm passing my M18x to my son when my new X51 arrives.

Since the X51 is practically a laptop (uses same power brick as M18x), I wish this forum could include the X51 as part of the family :)

The desktopreview.com forum is so dead compared to enjoyment I get from here!

Anyone else considered a X51 instead of a laptop?

Congrats buddy!! Every Alienware system part of the family :D
Well there is already a section for Alienware desktop systems Alienware Aurora & Alienware Area 51 Forum

X51 still desktop system a bit tinny tower, specially targeted for console user but i dont think it's replacement for console. Indeed X51 compact but it's not laptop replacement system as user requires external monitor, keyboard, mice so on.....

I don't agree. The X51 requires you to "lug" around more than just an all in one device. You still need, as was said previously, a monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc.

This is meant to be a joke, but based on your power brick analogy, I could just say that my blender is a laptop too, because I plug it into an outlet that's exactly like the outlet I plug my m17x into.

    See what I'm saying?

Not gaming much and my poor son is playing League of Legends on a M11x. So it is time to pass it on to him. I will be putting a Msata SSD into the X51 sp that should help a bit. I don't think the GTX 670 is too much of a downgrade. And, I'm using the X51 to do double duty and replace a stand-alone media center desktop that is in my closet. It is running a 4 tuner ceton cable card. I'm going to replace that with a 6 tuner Ethernet based ceton cable tuner card. I figure I will be saving about $40 a month just in electricity...

Well, at least the M18x is still "in the family" and you can confiscate it if he misbehaves, doesn't do his chores, etc. Having something awesome like that M18x for leverage is an effective parenting tool. ;)
(Of course, I am assuming your son is not an adult yet. If he is a licensed teen driver, the M18x might even be more effective than taking away the car keys if he is a gaming addict.)
