    M17x - Can you use it as a monitor ??

    i was wondering can i plug in my PS3 and use my screen as a monitor ??

    Pretty sure you cant. All the video ports are output and not input.

    There a a billion different types of video input devices that you can buy that would plug into the usb/firewire/expresscard slot.

    Most of them are meant for video capturing, but you would just be using it as a input. You can spend anywhere from $15 to $20,000+ depending on the quality and type of input you would want to use.

    So yes you can, just not with what came with the computer.

    You should be able to use this device to accomplish what you want:

    Video Input Adapter USB

    There is a software out there then that can convert the video input into a video feed that can be displayed live on your laptop monitor. I am looking for it, will post when I find it.

    This device is compatible only with the 32-bit version of vista, and the m17x uses the 64 bit.

    Yes that is true but I am sure a similar device exist for a 64 bit version maybe even just a software update.
