    Hey guys,

I noticed when i would try to adjust my OSD volume up, i would hear like sticky glue snapping back and forth (as i pressed harder)... so i removed the OSD command center board, and reseated it... now volume and everything is fine (sensitive to the touch).... Then I went further to test different situations I might run into and noticed I cant eject the drive unless the operating system is loaded.

Can anyone confirm if the drive can be ejected without an operating system present ? Thanks

ok, so its a bios issue...

I was having hardware issues with the board, but now it responds like it should in the windows environment...

I wish i had hard buttons to press

OK...so i did not get it to open up without an OS. I think, killitro got it to open by spamming the open button while the alienhead/start up screen was there, then letting go when it went to processing stuff. But that didnt work for me. So this is what I did and it worked for me. You will need a flash drive, at least 1 gig.

    http://www.pendrivelinux.com/all-in-one-usb-dsl/

Follow the EXACT directions on this site, then put it in your comp. start it up. Spam your eject button. It came out for me. If any other questions, shoot.

(also to make sure we had the same problem, you have NO OS installed, and another disc is in the drive and you cant eject it? corect?)

    Correct with your assumption,

but I was just testing the idea, i still have my Operating system... I was just wondering what would happen if say... the raid fails and i have a dvd stuck in there.

So the only work arounds would be,
    External DVD drive,
or External Flash Drive OS environment

which is bull, they need to fix it

Gotta love a slot-loaded drive. Manual eject hole on a tray loaded M17 FTW.

Yea I was able to spam the button or hold it down and it worked in the bios/rebooting..

Seems like the controller board is very touchy for the media buttons..
My volume buttons still do not work right.. 95% of the time, they do nothing.. all the rest are ok..

Look like you have issues beyond your screen then. My buttons although sometimes react slowly have worked all the time.

When your OS boots and your having issues with the touch controls, try this:

Find "Launch.exe" (it is somewhere in the program files\alienware or osd folder) and double-click it after your os loads and all apps are running.

    This should restart your hotkeys....

Then you prob have the same problem i did... the board wasnt attached properrly behind the plastic piece... it was starting to come off near the center... if you press really hard, and hear a sticky Pop... then you need to remove it... and hold the board tight in place, so that a proper tape seal happens.

All my buttons work proper now...
    except with ejecting in bios

Are you referring to the cable itself or the touch panel to the underneath? I had to unplug that when removing the lcd and re hook up and it is still the same... I dont have any noise/popping ect coming from it...

The touch panel... if you hold it tight and squeeze it... the glue will stick like it should, hard to explain

that has nothing to do with the touchpanel not working.

the cable is in the middle of the panel and the ends have some adhesive to hold down the corners.

wrong, the whole thing, from the eject botton, to the stealth mode, is held down by adhesive only, for my case, the adhesive wasnt attached propperly in the middle, where the volume up is... squeezeing the panel to that frame, sealed the adhesive like it should
