I wasn't really happy with the 186.24 driver, so rolled it back, although scores went up, gaming went down (EmpireTotal War). So maybe I'll wait untill some new drivers with the 9400M support come out.
    The 186.12 doesn't have the 9400M support I guess?

Unrelated, I know - but I was running a couple of final benches on my XPS M1730 (T9300 @ 2.5Ghz) and I OC'd the 8800M GTX SLI to 650/950/1550. Ran Vantage @ the default resolution and set to Performance.

Can't wait until the M17x arrives... Oh well, here I am taking us off topic - sorry all.

My cpu was running at 3.3Ghz with that score. Also my GPUs were OC'ed but I don't remember the clocks since I've been trying many different ones. I need to get into the habit of naming my files with the specs in them.

Edit: ah, now I see it. If you ever plan on submitting scores turn PhysX off.

Edit: also with a 650 core clock set the shader to 1625 (2.5 X core)

yeah and I like how people call me lucky. it would never be skill on my side. ;)

I run 3.2Ghz all the time and bump it to 3.3 and 3.35 for benching. I start blue screening at 3.4Ghz.

The 186.12 P01 drivers from Dell's M17x download page have full support for the 9400M and Hybrid SLI without the need for modification. I found them to be the best and most stable drivers available for the M17x 9400M/GTX280M SLI combination so far.

The Clevo owners are using the 186.03 drivers from Nvidia and for some reason they don't work with ours. They're reporting good performance with them.

I am using the INF posted here as well..

I noticed in device manager, it doesn't say 9400M on my integrated. It just says 9400... Before updating to this driver, it actually said 9400m. Could this be why Mandrake reported that it doesn't prompt when changing between the dedicated or integrated?

Thanks Kilthro... Just checked over the INF and that HardwareID is labeled as:

    NVIDIA GeForce 9400M G

The only entry for just '9400' is:

    DEV_0867&SUBSYS_02711028

which does not match up with the HardwareID for the 9400M G used int he M17x.

Very odd. Not sure why you only see it as 9400 in the DeviceManager. Anyone else seeing this as well?

Well, after some major issues with my system. It was going slow (not "all powerfull" worthy). The cause; all driver update, failures... So I decided to respawn!

After this only my integraded card would function!
After some searching I found out I have a conflict, between AlienFX and Power management Setup, they are working against eachother, although they both where functioning and reporting SLI mode on.

Now most of you would say: YOUR IN STEALTH MODE!!!
Yes, I was but I couldn't get out of it. So I disabled AlienFX in the power management setup and my machine is running like a dream again.

Is there some information regarding this issue, I searched all NBR but no such thing! Anybody experienced the same?

    P.S.
During testing I used the 186.24 driver setup from BB and it's all great now.
So, tweaking this one is a good thing!

Negative. I have to call them today to get an ETA if they even have an idea... ARGH.

    @Dutchy:
Glad its worked out now. I'm installing my 186.24 ver now. 186.12 was horrible in my opinion.

I like the 186.24, (on my new config i didn't test it with EmpireTotalWar just jet) Call of Duty Waw is running very well.
Although I'm still curious; sometimes my computer runs slow after a while. Restarting seems to solve the problem. So I'm still looking for the problem (software for sure), but it looks like a memory issue? Anyone suggestions?

Maybe just install Windows7... I kinda dislike vista. XP-mc was a lot faster.

I wasn't very impress with the 186.12 drivers either.

Just a note, perhaps someone can confirm for me:

Tonight after playing TF2 I noticed something interesting. After exiting the game (only played for about an hour) I checked HWMonitor to see how temps were doing. Temps were fine except I noticed that GPU#1 was running a bit warmer than GPU#2 - about 7 degrees warmer. I thought this was a bit odd, so I opened up GPU-Z to check the clocks and I noticed that GPU#1 was not downclocking at all. It was locked at default clock speeds where as GPU#2 was sitting @ 200/120. I kept an eye on it for about 15 minutes and the clocks did not change. I ended up hitting FN+F7 to switch off the discrete GPUs and then re-enabled them (FN+F7 again). Clocks returned to normal, both downclocked properly.

This tells me that PowerMizer is probably not functioning properly with driver 186.24 after.

Can someone try to confirm this please?

BB, I stopped using any 186.xx new driver, went back to stock. So I can't check it for you. Finally I have my SLI configuration working again.
It seems that a respawn is not the way to deinstall everything.
Only reinstalling windows, fixed the driver problem. So maybe I'm going to do a fresh install with Windows vista and then use the 186.24 driver. But first I'm gonna enjoy the full power of the SLI config.

I do also have a problem:
When playing COD wow Full res 1920x1200 no anti alias, with all bells and whistles, after some time the game just freezes... I have to wait a while before my system reacts even again? Didn't check the temps jet but I'm surely gonna. Anyone simulair problems?

Hey Dutchy, after you did a clean install, did you notice sleep working consistently (no waking to black screens)? If so, I'm wiping this thing. Normally, I do wipe the factory install - but there is like zero 'bloat'.

Well, the funny thing is... First I installed the stock drivers again. They didn't do the trick! So I was going to fully format my raid0 config and reinstall Vista (also cleaning the respawn part, because this is not working for me as I expected). But when doing it, I realised I forgot a savegame which took me ours of gaming! So I aborted it, and restarted Windows again. Suddenly an NVidia icon at the bottom appeared?! (and I noticed my desktop BG was gone and all alienware stuff disappeared). The icon asks the question for putting SLI on? I was already on the brink of killing the installation anyways, I just enabled it.
And since this my system is working fine... (I'm still intending to format everything anyways because, I think it is still polluted somewhat. Then I'm gonna install the modded drivers again and see what it brings.

So I'm not really able to say if this "sleep working consistently (no waking to black screens)" is taking place. I do know (Im used to XP, Vista is new to me) that Vista takes a whole lot of resources and this HDD activity is taking place whitout me doing anything. So hopefully the W7 version is a lot less hefty on resources. (Can't wait to kick Vista off an fresh install W7!)

Not sure if you already did this, but to help minimize disk activity and to free up some resources you can disable Windows Search. This is the windows index service we have come to know and hate. If you never use the CTRL-F function in windows to search for something, you should disable this service. It will prevent windows from indexing the drive. One reason why we see so much drive activity - especially on a new OS install.

To kill it, type 'services.msc' in the Run Command box and then look for Windows Search and stop the service then select Disable from the pull down.
