I had a little glitch with the face-recognition this afternoon. Now, whenever I boot, I get the Alert - "FATray/Alert Application has stopped working" when it tries to open the taskbar icon. I'd reinstall the application if I knew where to get it from.

Anybody know how I can, at least, stop the error message - because if I close the alert it just re-opens.

I don't use the facial recognition except for login.

You can reinstall off of the Alienware app cd (part of CC) . It is on there. Or you can do a system restore to yesterday via vista restore and it should make all things go back to as they were.

OK, reinstalled CC - No joy. Tried to restore to a point earlier today before some MS Updates were installed - Restore failed (huh!). So I deleted the fatrayalert entry from Current User/Run in the registry. So no more annoying error alerts and no useless icon in the tray (Win - Win).

Is it just a coincidence that the error started just after installing some MS updates - or am I the first in a queue?

While hunting on the net I found this - FastAccess_Facial_Recognition.rar - here. It looks like it may be the full, proper, version of the face-recognition software!!??!! Not had the guts to try installing it yet.

When you did the system restore, did you restore to before the MS updates? One update disabled my touch pad, so I just restored to before the updates were installed. Gotta love vista..

I attempted to restore to before the MS Updates - but it failed (no explanation why - but it is MS).

I'm quite happy with my current resolution of the problem. Facial recognition still works for login - I just don't have the icon in the system tray. As I couldn't see the point of it I don't really miss it.

If it was a real pain I've always got a proper backup from Saturday.
