wow.......that is up there for a notebook
So what was the conclusion for ratios and stability at 3.3+ for the QX9300?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
-
Stability is at 3.25 (1:2 ratio). 3.35 is the highest I was able to run a benchmark. I normally run them between 3.25 and 3.3.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
so just keeping 1:2 the whole way will give best result? (this is same as "linked" right?)
-
-
BTW, have you received your system?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
it is delivered and waiting at home, I am leaving 3 hours early to get some extra alone time with it
-
you're at work?! you need to get your priorities straight.
-
lol -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
haha, I considered calling in "sick" today but am done here on Friday (just a Summer job) and get to cash out all my leave that I don't use, so figured why waste it right at the end
-
BUMP!
More screen shots on first page. I'll take requests. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Thanks. can you put a stock one on there?
also a 3.33ghz would be nice.12.5x maybe
and i don't know if you can boot at 13x which is 3.5ghz. i know most people won't be stable but just seeing what you can be at ay what settings is helpful. -
It's really hard to get it to boot with a 12.5 or 13 multi. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i think i may have saved a copy of 3.33ghz from my whitebook. i have to check my stupid external hdd. (God i really hope i do.)
i couldn't boot at 13x either. right before login it would bluescreen. -
My m17 will boot at 12.5 no problems and i can poke around windows fine but forget running an app like a benchmark .
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
take a screen shot of it.
yeah i could of done all of stuff at 12.5 but prime was a no go after pressing start.
i did run threw 3dmark06 but it stopped after the cpu test. i couldn't get past that. -
What would you want a screen of and ill post it .
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
cpu-z at 12.5x using 1.52.1 since everyone is using it now.
-
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
thanks alot. it seems like your going to try 06 right now
-
Haha i did and no go . makes it about 10 seconds into the first run and then craps out . Not much i can do about it lol. but hey thats why i have been complaining about the M17x not giving me even a hair over 2.93ghz without going ballistic . If i can boot into windows on the m17 at that speed and open up a few apps including HW monitor and CPUZ you would think ?? that i could atleast do that at 3.06 on the M17x with the same CPU . NOPE
........
Thats why im not convinced its just a CPU issue and could be a motherboard issue as well. I tried both sets of ram and every FSB config under the sun you can think of including every Mutli + FSB/RAM etc and nada zilch zip . Wish i had a magical motherboard in there.

i get what you mean. i thought the m17x was going to make the whitebook look like garbage in terms of overclocking because of the fact that it has so many ways to overclock.
the only thing i can think of is voltage. your cpu can hit 3.33ghz as we can see and it's not like it just failed during boot you can use it. so if you have the more voltage you should be able to hit even higher on your whitebook. i know at 13 it will try to boot but it won't complete.
now when you apply it to your m17x it's a completely different story. it makes it look like you have a "bad" chip(in terms of overclocking)....... being stuck at 2.93 which has no bragging right what so ever. the 8662 can hit that with the same cpu.
i also noticed that axman had the same issue from going from his whitebook with the qx9300(he said that he can hit 3.2ghz as well) and being stuck at 2.93ghz.
something wrong is going on. shouldn't it be the other way around. that means if i had my quad i would be in the seem position.
i believe if we can mod the bios for more voltage, that will be the key for everything. i wonder how can do it? i saw someone posted a screen shot of the bios and the voltage. i just need some time to think who was it. i saw zfactor said that he fail to rebuild the bios when he tried. i'm almost lost for words at this point. and i believe that moo tried cpu genie but it didn't work.
need more voltage and finds the pll. -
Time to get some resistors and a soldering iron...
-
lol thats a good solution Big. I was thinking more of a Hammer and blow torch but close enough i guess
.
I kept forgetting when i was under the hood to check for the PLL and i suppose i should have . -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
well you found the pll for the w90 and it work wonders so might as well for the m17x regardless of nst or the bios.......
it would be nice to have more overclocking options for it. I heard the maker of setfsb is a cool dude? -
Yeah he is cool. Ask Mandrake maybe the next time he is inside the machine to poke around and see if he can dig anything up on it . I can do it also but i dont really have the need to tear down the machine again right now because im not swapping in another CPU etc.
-
-
Well there in lies the problem of it being Nvdia chipset i suppose and Setfsb will never work with it .
Setfsb is very limited to what i can work with quite frankly so in the W90s case it was because it was using an Intel X38 chipset and the guy already had a very similar PLL for it since the X38 was being used in desktops as well. -
it was the PLL
but its useless because NST uses it ...
and setfsb maker wont do it -
I received my new memory today.
-
Now running at 1333. No more CL11.
-
What mem did you buy?
-
Kingston HyperX again. Slightly different the the other Kingston's I have for sale.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
the DDR3-1600 kit with 7-7-7-20 timings?
Guessing it allows LOW latencies with high clocks then? -
-
I just ran my system at 3.3Ghz. My problem at that speed was BSOD on shut down. I rebooted a few times with no BSOD. Looks like I may be able to keep it at 3.3Ghz. More testing later.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yes do more test

Anyone wanna buy these and give them a go?

I may down the road -
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
well it is apparently being sold haha
and looks dam tasty -
What advantages do you see?
-
Unless you can clock it up to 1600mhz probably none as the timings are the same as what you have now i believe ?.
-
The timings look the same as the stock memory. Hopefully they would be better at 1300+ speeds. I spent less than that on my newest memory with better timings.
-
What are yours at 1066 ? 5-5-5-15 ? but that would be with the XMP profile if so ?.
-
Laptops can't take advantage of XMP profiles (none that I know of) and that was my reason to get the different memory. LINK
I currently own two different types of HyperX memory one requires XMP the other does not. Cool stuff huh! Even runs at CL7 at 1333Mhz. That's why I bought it. -
-
Then I misinterpreted your initial statement. Yes, if I could use XMP profiles I wouldn't have bothered. (if I'm still misinterpreting then just ignore me
)
-
i can only get my ram to 14xx mhz
-
You already know that's more than needed. We can't increase our FSB anymore.
-
i know but i like measuring my E-peen to
I WANT MY 1GHZ Overclock!!!!!!
