Hi everyone, my M17x is showing yet another problem and I've been really frustrated trying to contact Alienware for a replacement but they suggest to send the laptop to their depot first for further analysis because they think they can repair it.
Among the normal stuttering issues and wireless not auto-connecting all the time (which I was able to fix), my M17x has a lot of weird problems that I can not fix. The latest one is when I boot up the laptop it will reach the Windows 7 log on screen, the cursor will show and along with it the rotating "loading" logo. After around 5 - 10 seconds the laptop will get stuck at this screen and the monitor flickers non stop and there is nothing I can do about it. I tried leaving it on flashing for a whole 20 minutes and it will just not load Windows. This is happening with both dedicated/integrated GPU settings
Safe mode does work and there is no flashing (so I don't think it's a loose monitor cable), I tried to uninstall nvidia drivers and load Windows but the screen flashes even with no driver. Then I tried windows start up repair and it did fix the problem temporarily, I restarted the comp and booted into Windows fine and was even able to game for an hour; the laptop functions like normal. But once I shut down the computer, the next time I turn it on the screen flashes non stop again and here I am with a non working M17x again!
Another problem is the laptop appear to shut off really "violently". I know the difference between how the laptop shuts off normally and when all parts appear to crash-stop under sleep mode. One time when I was trying to boot up the computer the laptop will have constant clicking and beeping sound (sound you hear when you pres F2 to boot BIOS) for 10 seconds, the Alienware head logo won't even load up!
I already got my mobo & GPU replaced once, now Dell wants me to send it in. I don't think they will fix the issue (since they will probably run start up repair once, deem it working and ship it back to me). What can I do at this point, is any other user experiencing similar problems or have luck asking for Dell to ship them a replacement Alienware? Thanks very much for your help

Got the same problem your describing, if you disable Hybrid and Intergrated graphics in the Bios your computer will boot fine. Also if you reboot properly from the login screen (do not log in) your computer will boot fine with Hybrid and Intergrated still enabled BIOS. I have not yet figured out the cause of this but im leaning toward the chipset driver. I plan to do a reinstall of windows 7 when i get the chance to try and narrow this issue down.

Hi there, what's weird is I disabled everything, hybrid and integrated + tried all combinations of graphic settings and it will result in constant flashing when it hits the Window 7 log in screen
M17x - R1 start up problem (Windows 7)
