I did a search and didn't see where anyone has compared core temps on the 17x with i7 processors.

I'm running CPUID Hardware Monitor and it showing a pretty significant difference in core temps. One core is usally 5-10C warmer than all the others. I'm wondering if this is normal?

    At idle:
    Core 0 - 40C
    Core 1 - 39C
    Core 2 - 45C
    Core 3 - 39C

    Under load:
    Core 0 - 57C
    Core 1 - 56C
    Core 2 - 67C
    Core 3 - 56C

You can see my Core 2 is always at least 5C warmer than the others, and that under load it goes to 10C warmer. Anything to worry about here?

What are you guys getting for core temps?

Your temps seem fine. When your cpu underload it gose into turbo mode. So one chip is overclock while the other are off.

Yep that's fine. Also, different core affinity of the processes will result in uneven load on the cores, hence the different temps.
Nothing to worry about till 90C ;)

that is so fine... don't worry about that. My quad core can go up to 75C

It's completely normal. The same with the M15x. And as far as I know it's always the same core (core 2).

In my case the first core is usually the wormest. It isfunny though how a 3% load on the CPU for a couple of seconds makes the temp jump 10 degrees (I've been monitoring my temps all day yesterday due to another issue)

    Mfractal,

What are your temps just out of curiosity?

i'm idling between 42 to 45 degrees, when under load it goes to low sixties.
