would dual booting my m17x with linux be a good idea? well i know i cnt go wrong with a dual boot since ill still have windows but i want to use linux for gaming. in the past i havent had much success with this. Would i be able to have all my drivers working and is there a way to run all my windows games in linux?

why would you bother? windows 7 is better and use a min of resources. seems like to much hass for a implied small gain. that being said there are enought drivers to get it working from what ive seen, use the search feature i think threre are a few threads on the subject.

don't dual-boot for games. wine doesn't run games very well.

but if you want to dual-boot so you have both OSs handy without running one in a VM, then sure, why not.

It's worth the shot, trust me.
Here we try our best to make it work smooth. So far I'm very happy with Ubuntu 10.04, will update the first page with more info as soon as I get more time.

Gaming it would not be sufficent. You could play alot of older games but eventually linux support and driver support would cripple your ability eventually.

BUT it is good to dual boot so if something happens to windows just mount the partition and then fix it.

A saftey net is never wrong to have ;)

If you want linux for gaming, then forget it. For anything else, I can highly recommend it. In my view, it is a lot faster and better than Windows 7.

If you just want a safety fallback, dont bother going through all that trouble of doing multiple partitions etc... Just install linux on a usb pen drive and boot from usb.
