Hi all,
Just a quick question regarding the keyboard lighting on my new M17x, the spacebar is unevenly lit, it's quite dull in the centre. Just wondering if this is normal or do i possibly have a bad LED underneath it, before i waste time calling Dell Customer Care about it.
Thanks.

Under the big keys such as "left/right shift, ENTER, CAPS lock, backspace" there is a tiny metal (size of a paper clip) that ensures a confirmed key when pressed.
Since the gel-plastic underneath is positioned right underneath the center of every key, pushing the upper-left of say the "SPACE BAR" might not register the hit. But because of those tiny paper clip material underneath, the big keys ensure that any kind of hit will register a character.
It just so happens that the spacebar has a much bigger metal. It actually spirals around like a paperclip and runs right underneath the white outline of the keys, thus blocking the LED light from underneath.
If you don't know what I am saying, pull the spacebar out and you'll know what I am talking about. Have fun. There is nothing wrong with the lighting AT ALL!
