My laptop crashed this morning with a '1000007e' BSOD.

I used it yesterday very briefly to browse some forums and use my normal messaging clients steam, msn, xfire.

Then I changed my power settings to this:

After this, I left my laptop on and went to bed.

My laptop as stated, went into sleep mode after 2 hours.

Then this morning, I press the power button, log back in, and use it for not even a minute, and the BSOD comes up.

Is it simply because I should have restarted my laptop after changing power settings? if so, it should state that you need to.

I haven't made any recent hardware or software changes.

Also there was a disk, the Dragon Age game, in the drive when I took it out of sleep mode.

Any ideas what could have caused this? :(

i know it had no relation to changing any settings

most of the time a bsod is driver related
or it could be hardware going out but if it only does it on sleep mode then it sounds like a driver.

However it could also be malware, virus or other type of computer std

Well it hasn't done it since so that's a good sign, hopefully it was something directly related that's fixable. I had one laptop with constant BSODs that was a nightmare to try and sort out. Even with a team of tech support people and countless hours researching still no one knows what's wrong with it. I've put it down to a faulty hardware module.

Therefore, seeing a random BSOD come up like that on this machine makes me tense for that reason, plus of course the fact I spent so much on it :(

Maybe I should see if I can replicate it by leaving it on again and taking out of sleep mode in the morning.

I'm using the 195.62 WHQL drivers and I installed those 3 weeks ago. (I checked the date of the thread I posted in here on the day I installed them.)
