I remember that 182.46 and older worked. I'm home now, I'll try in a bit.

The driver situation is a little intimidating going over to the m17x camp...is part of why I abandoned my whitebook. Why don't the regular nvidia drivers work again?!

I was under the impression that the drivers directly from Nvidia didn't work properly on this notebook, only the Dell ones. Hopefully I am wrong?

I spent about 8 hours yesterday just trying different things to get my CPU to clock higher and it seems no matter what its happiest at 2.93. I tried every divisor you can think of and both sets of ram all the multipliers etc etc.

With that said im stuck around 11,500 in vantage atm with OCing the GPUs.

68fps is the best i got in Resident Evil 5 with no AA so far.

Crysis seems to be stuck at 30fps which im a little stumped at seeing as the 9262 got 34 fps and the 280s were "supposed" to be 10-15% faster .

Thats pretty much all for the moment . i have been sticking with the 190.38 drivers for now as they are the newest and i still want to run some newer games with the SLI profiles etc.

I also spent a few hours toying around with Win7 and while a nice operating system the performance was the same or maybe even slightly worse for me . I had tried a few sets of drivers on there and a bunch of Vantage runs with the GPUs at stock clocks.

Oooooo. So what does that mean, to use the nvidia drivers you have to keep the 9400m enabled?

I haven't played with the nvidia drivers for a while now but it should be the other way around. They should work with the 9400M disabled. Someone else probably has played with them more recently and can give more info.

Personally I think the best all around drivers are the Dell beta 186.12 drivers... I was able to get 11.5k with my CPU only @ 2.8... and it seems to work the smoothest for gaming as well

Judging from the benchmarks and from what a user said about the 10% difference between 260m sli and 280m sli. would it be wiser to stick to 260m sli or is this just a driver issue that could be sorted out in the future?

But the e-value code most buyers I assume are using give you practically a free upgrade to 280m sli from 260m sli... so why not? (There's no option to downgrade with that code)

The drivers are not very stable. I have to bring the OC way down just to get 3dmark06 to complete. The highest I've hit with them is 16.2K.

They definitely have potential if I can find a way to run 3dmark without the drivers crashing at higher clocks.

I just hit 16604 with the 182.05 drivers. 16620 is still my best with the 182.46 drivers. The difference is the 16620 score was heavily OC'ed. If I can find a way to keep 3dmark stable I could probably hit at least 16.8K.

usually with 3dmark..you have to down clock something...they don't like the same high over clocks as vantage...speculation of course...

For the 182.46 drivers Vantage and 3damrk worked well with the same clocks. With the 182.05 drivers I have to bring it down just to run but scores are very similar.

Hmm just out of curiosity what should be an average estimated score for a 3.0ghz dual core with 3mb cache and dual 260's in Vantage and 3dmark 06?

I know no one cares about 3dmark 06 and I will be keeping those scores to my self, but I will post some vantage scores once I get my pc optimized. I will be running both and am curious what kinda numbers do you all think I should be looking at here?

Edit: all with PhysX disabled btw.

We haven't had much dual 260 participation. I would assume 13K range for 06 and 9K for Vantage.

Any particular SLI settings in the Nvidia control panel that work best for Vantage and 3dmark 06 or should I just keep it at Nvidia recommended?

And Mandrake did you run your 16k + 3dmark score with PhysX enabled or disabled?

Ok this is what I got so far with PhysX disabled, 600/1500/1000, and the P8600@ 3.0ghz. I can probably do better with better drivers and more optimizations. I have to go for now, I will be back later on around 1 or 2am.

Ok here are my final runs, I can still probably do better if I over volt the GPU's or get a better processor but I wont be over volting or getting a new processor any time soon so this is as good as it gets for the synthetic benchmarks on my M17x for now.

Both runs are with my P8600 @ 3.0ghz with GPU clocks at 690/1725/1065 using Dox 182.05 and PhysX disabled.

I'll probably throw up some Crysis benches tomorrow.
