    Hey guys

I'm fairly new to the m17x, Ive had it for a week only and there's been issues here and there but the most annoying one that no one else seems to be having is with the charger, the laptop would give me the message that its disabled the discrete cards on boot up for it working on battery it took me a while to realize that the light around the edge of the charger was off, unplugging it from the UPC and plugging it back on did the trick but its already happened 3 to 4 times so far with a day or 2 in between, at first i thought i didn't plug it in right but something just not right, does it have some kind of automated cycle that it cuts the power every certain time or what the f.... is it, its starting to get annoying, any helpp would be greatly appreciated :) :) :)

Definately call dell and have them replace it. If they give you any hassle just threaten to send the laptop back being unhappy with it or the serivce and get a refreshed M17X lol :p especially since your in the 21 day no restocking fee period

So I had the same problem with my original charger and thought it had to be everything but the charger. Well, I put up with it for about three months until a family member reminded me of other "companies" chargers causing fires, so on that note I called Alienware support and explained the problem to them.

It took 3, yes three full calls with assurance by all reps that the order (free replacement was next day delivery and was approved) going to be on its way the next day. Well, it took the third person and manager before I had full authorization and shipping codes in my email in less than 24 hours.

It seems the first two times the resolution agent failed to complete the replacement order. Then, when the new charger arrived it was the incorrect charge, great I know. At this point I was leaving for a 1 1/2 week business trip on the East Coast and needed a new batter as well. This time I spoke with a manager and a resolution specialist, they wanted me to try only a new charger on my trip. Well that wasn't going to work since I have been using my laptop for business as well, I explained to both of them that it makes me look bad when my laptop can't make it through a 30 minute presentation on power savings mode (and stealth mode) and made them look bad at the same time as well.

After a bit more of back and forth I was told I would receive my replacement parts, charger and battery, before my trip in several days. Well, the new parts came to my place on the West Coast while I was gone, but I was able to employ an extension cord every time I gave a presentation, so it kinda worked out.

Sorry for the rant but I wanted you to know that you should replace your charger and know what you might be in for. They do have to replace for "free" as long as the warranty is still good. Given the product has yet to be out for more than a year, the standard warranty still covers the charger. So call them and get all the reference numbers you can before hanging up.
