Is the i5 and i7 both 998 sockets?

I ask as I have a i7 extreme currently as a 998 socket. I was wondering if I order a maxxed out m17 refresh minus the processor could just toss in my i7 without fear being they are both a 998 socket?

920XM is the same socket however you may need a 240w power brick instead of 150w

Also it is not easy to put in a new cpu so make sure you know what you are getting into first.

Obviously make sure you dont order the core 2 duo series and hope it fits in there.

You can always buy a new brick however its about 100 USD

If you order Crossfire 4870's you get a 240w brick anyways fyi.

Then problem solved as I would be getting the Crossfire. I just hate to spend 1k on dells site when I can just use the one I already have (which cost half of what it does on dells site).
