    Hey Guys -

I checked the link about this, the link in the M17x forum, but it seems the pictures on that website dont work http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/document?c=us&dl=true&docid=6A84A558B15480BFE040AE0AB6E16C8F&journalid=6BAB41D926ECCBF8E040AE0AB6E17543&l=en&s=gen... So i have to ask here.

When I turned my computer, M17x, on today, the alienhead above the keyboard, is turning from custom (blue) to a yellow or orange... back and forth smoothly...

    What does this mean?

It did this once before to, but i didnt look into it?

EDIT: Also, just yseterday I used Tuneup 2009 (not sure if this is even a good/smart idea/ or even a good program, however....) and cleanup the hard disk, and cleaning up activex?

Also, I did the self check things when you push F12 at boot up and did those tests, and when it was checking the memory, i manually aborted, not sure if this is the problem...maybe i screwed something up?

umm its plugged in ? you have it set in CC to do that

the dianostic LED are so that we can trouble shoot your computer

like if only the num lock is flashin it means something is wrong with your CPU

reinstall your OSD in my drivers thread

and yes when you have your computer plugged in the Alienhead will glow 2 different colors beside if the computer is working then why are you worried?

the pictures on dell site show the num lock scroll locck and caps lock not the alienhead :)

trust me i have used them before

kinda lol open command center and check what colors your power button is set to .....

also just unplug it and you will see what i mean ( unless you have it set to pulse colors)

Yeah when unplugged, it turns the color its flashing back and forth to?

Would you still recommend me to reinstall the OSD? If so, could you explain what exactly what I should uninstall in the unistall programs/or whatever its called? I was having a hard enough time unistalling command center and upgraded to the new one

    thanks

EDIT: nevermind, now its staying blue... must be because I unplug my computer when i shut it off, due to where i live there are alot of thunderstorm and dont want to risk of a surge...
but my touch key for command center not responding still? is it because I have a logitech mouse with setpoint installed (since this takes out the option for the touchpad on command center?

EDIT2: I also thought something was wrong because when i was playing kings bounty, it suddenlty just stopped playing, and windows thing came on and said kb.exe has stopped responding/working? i wanted to check to see if something was wrong... edit:found out not compatible in vista 64... sorry

Basically by default it is solid blue when plugged in and not charging.

If it is a yellowish/Orangeish color it is on straight battery power

If it is alternating, it is charging the battery...

The manual explains this is normal behavior for the alien head light..

Oh and also Tuneup utilities 2009 is kosher! it runs well and doesnt mess up your system and everything is easily recoverable if you do have problems....doest work well yet with Windows 7 though, naturally.

Just thought you should know this because you did sound unsure.
