Playing Fallout3 at max settings full screened, I saw the 260Ms get up to 70 C, then the fans turned on full blast (VERY LOUD compared to what I normally hear), then dropped down to about 50C or so after a minute or so.

The 9400 is almost always at around 60-65C and the CPU sits around 45C idle.

    Aren't these temps really high?

do you think it's worth removing the heatsinks from the cpu and gpus and reapplying thermal paste to them?

your temps are fine, great to be exact. The GPU's can operate up to 110c before they start to throttle back. I'd say everything stock with no cooler around 80c under load would be normal. Mine would get up to 92c under the occt stress test.

On graphics cards you're looking at the fact that temperatures of up to 100C are fine, although if it's running at 100C you will want to look into it as that will shorten the life.

Basically in normal operation if laptop GPUs stay below 90C then there shouldn't be a problem. My 3870s hit 82C when I play games for a while, and that's completely fine.

The CPU...that's actually a nice temperature. As for the 9400, that just runs at that temperature, nothing to worry about ;)

Why is the 9400 so hot? Is it because its placement in the chassis?
