    Hi guys.
I have an M17x running 2x 150GB HDDs on RAID0 , and have been running it for a couple of months and couldn't be happier.
My free Windows 7 upgrade arrived last monday and I installed it that day. After running it for a few days, tweaking it to my liking (classic view, vintage '98 style etc), I tried to play Assassins Creed, a game which the M17x shouldn't have the slightest problem running, and lag was through the roof!
I did some research, and found a batch of W7 drivers "reccomended" by alienware. I downloaded them all then began installing the in the order suggested - the first being BIOS.
I ran the BIOS upgrade, the computer restarted, and thats the end. "Missing Operating System" I'm told. So I tried alien respawn, and backup disks created the day before i installed W7 - all with no luck. All I got was the error message about no data regarding my hardware.
Thinking there was nothing left to try, I inserted the Vista DVD that came with the laptop and in the partition selection im shown 149GB.
So it appears I have lost one of my harddrives from the RAID0 setup?

Gist: - Updated the BIOS, now I can't boot windows - 1 HDD missing from RAID setup.

Anyone got any ideas or am I going to contact Alienware/Dell?

    Thanks

Go to this thread and read what it says.

Basically you need to re-setup the RAID in BIOS as it was before.

Note: if you've altered data on the drive (i.e. by trying to run an install) then you will need to re-install from scratch as you would of basically ruined that array.

so basically I've lost everthing? need to re-set the RAID and then install Vista and so on? Thats a shame...but a working M17 is better than no M17 haha.

    Thanks :)
