Evening gentlemen, I've looked around here but I can't seem to find anything other than the how to guide on how to swap the LCD panel on the M17x. I found someone selling a lightly used M17x near me for a great price, and it has everything I want except the screen is only 900p resolution. Would it be difficult (or even worth it) to find a 1200p replacement screen and install it/have the existing hardware work properly with it?

It would be worth it in my opinion. I would start by looking at The_Moos CPU replacement guide. Once you get it down to that point, the LCD screen is a few more screws. It should work since both were offered with the same motherboard

If you plan on using this machine for a few years - 100% go for the 1200p. You can even call AW tech support and inquire the price. I wonder if it's that expensive to buy the panel only (install it yourself) just don't tell them that it's for your machine as it may void the warranty.

Thanks for the info, was mainly worried about there being compatibility issues. I guess it depends on what Alienware would charge me, hopefully it still keeps it worthwhile.
