-
-
i'm at a loss of words.
...
nice config? -
lol
The m15x ....what u gonna do with that?
this may belong in side topics as it doesn't have any technical issues -
-
Dimensions
Height: 51.31mm to 53.59mm (2.02 inches to 2.11 inches) Front to Back
Width: 405.89mm (15.98 inches)
Depth: 321.31mm (12.65 inches)
Weight: Starting at 5.3kg* (11.68 pounds) -
i will gonna sell my M15X. it really cant satisfied me.
btw all i know about is a starting weight at 5.3kg..wat about the weight after installed all the spec tat i included? wat do u guys think the M17x with Max spec? any conflict? -
proably 13.5 pounds... my best guess
-
a bit heavier, but not much. 12-13 pounds.
-
Aww
very close to max spec
missing the Raid 0 SSD's -
it means the weight about 2 M15X?
-
is that a Super Solid Drive? -
-
-
^^^ yup
10char -
i skiped the SSD. does it any effect? i can replace it in the future?
-
well, SSDs are, simply put, much much faster than HDDs. so your machine will be a bit slower with HDDs than with SSDs, especially when loading the OS or games. an example:
boot time with HDD: 40 seconds
boot time with SSD: 15 seconds -
-
yea, I myself am getting 4GB 1333mhz RAM instead of 8 GB so I can swap in the Raid 0 SSD's with the same money.
As I've been reading its basically recommended, as the RAM will get cheaper (and I'll be buying some when that happens)
-
-
-
If it was me I would drop the 8GB of ram to 4GB and use the extra cash to upgrade to the 256SSD in Raid.
either way nice config! -

Nice config, except I would not have chosen RAID 0 . . . it is an unreliable storage solution since you are depending on two drives; the risk of data loss is therefore doubled.
-
im gonna get dual 500gb hdds and wait for 500gb ssds to release and get cheaper so i can buy 2 of those....
-
it seem i really should change the HDD to SSD right now...
-
(I personally will backup once a week to an external) -
if you want to do that, just call up Alienware's CS and have them change your order. also, i'd suggest going with RAID 1 or no RAID at all, for data security reasons (unless you have an external backup solution or plan on setting one up).
-
-
it suprised me about the price for SSD 512GB(2x256)!!
the most expensive thing in the spec. -
yeah, SSDs are pretty costly these days. prices will fall eventually, but for now, many still consider them a bit cost-prohibitive.
-
it seem the RAID 1 is better than RAID 0. SO wat about the speed between both? especially for gaming.
-
Never tested it for gaming but 2 hdd working for you will be faster than one.
-
-
-
Do the SSDs also have space used up for nothing?
Like when you buy a brand new 500GB HDD, you are actually only getting 440GBs or around that. -
depending on the SSD, you won't get this. the OCZ drives, for example, are branded as "60GB", and really do contain 60GB of space. other manufacturers sell the same drive as "64GB" due to the misleading calculation shown above. -
Would this is considered false advertisement?
anyways back on toopic:
that thing is a beast. -

RAID 0 is not comparable with RAID 1 either; they have different purposes.
-
RAID 0 will only be faster using hardware raid... not intel fakeraid...
-
I have a noob question. My M17X I ordered without raid. I just have the 256gb SSD. I am still able to buy a second similar SSD and have my PC into Raid 0?
The reason I ask is because I am not certain that the RAID controller comes standard. -
Yes you can but it would have been twice as cheap to get it with the system. Plus you'll have to call them to get the second hdd bracket.
-
-
It's software raid but u will see a big performance increase specially when using only 2 HDS (can't say the same for 8...)
BTW... Sorry but i don't think that this is the best time to buy big SSD's...

Hopefully that will drive prices down.
-
Do you plan to adopt? I want to live with you.
-
Guys, how well does the Dual GTX 280 running in Crysis? can i max out all the setting with the spec tat i list out?
-
i should think so.
-
yea they are running a average of 33 FPS on high ...... @ 1900 res
