M17x Panel Dismanteling

hi quadzilla and sleey0 i know you want to see this because this is the first time somebody take apart the allpowerfull panel sorry sleey0 i know i supose to sell it to you but this save you some money and time and believe or not was a pain in the A now since i start with this i need to know what is the best screen we can trow in there maybe a tl-a2 or tl-a5 or a led back light well enjoy

you have to get a dual bulb 16:10 screen

And if you can find a TLA2, that would most likely be the best panel you could put in there....

 

to take that apart you will have to cut the two aluminum pieces on the buttom by the converter is hard to explain let me post another pic

Wow thats fantastic and pretty much what i thought would have to be done instead of removing the glass ).

Get a TLA2 and just use one of the connectors for power and everything "should" be fine .


Oh and slide it back into a bag so you dont have 5 pounds of dust floating around inside of it .

I would buy from these guys . Price is about the same but they have no dead pixel guarantee and 180 day warranty which most of the panel resellers do not ..

thank's thadutchy i order the tla2 from dallas and they ship today i shut have it this friday i want to see if that is going to make a big difference yesterday i play fallout 3 and the screen was to dark my eyes get tired i hope this a good move

 

Theres people that were claiming the dimming does not happen during games but i tried to explain they were wrong

 

Quad... I already admitted my mistake... Yes, there is a dimming feature.

(Allthough my screen is not on 100% brightness, which could make the dimming less obvious.)

 

yeah i not complain about the resolution looks awesome but on my desktop with a 24" samsung hd my eyes never get tired so something is wrong with the dell panels looks like they on power saver but no is hi performance settings i think the dimming is present all the time

 

Yeah its when theres a dark scene in a game it makes the panel dark which makes you strain your eyes to see things which in turn makes them tired. Stupidest idea ever to do on a notebook IMHO and i really hope you adding the new panel will fix it as ill be ordering again then when the ATI cards come out if its fixed .

 

hi quad the tla2 is in the panel all sealed and ready to install but the connector don't looks the same is maybe a different design i start worryng about that all the 30 pin conectors are the same?

 

Does it fit ?? The connector on the back of the panel ??


Didnt you have to remove the inverter off the TLA2 to make it fit ? were there metal brackets spot welded onto the frame of the LCD or riveted on ?.


Please take a pic of the area your talking about so i can get a better idea .

Did you try to plug it in the back of the panel ? your saying it does not look the same but your not saying if you tried to actually plug it in or not ? Its either going to fit or it wont .


You should not have hacked the panel apart until you knew the screen was going to work though since you would not be able to return it .

As for the 3m tape ? i thought you removed the panel from the back ? so what was the tape needed for . Does the tape go along the borders the whole screen to get it to seal ? .

According to Zfactor its a standardized thing so it "Should" fit . Thats all i can tell you honestly .

The plug might look a little different because the clips on it may be positioned differently but it still should fit.

Wow not cool at all. I am sorry it did not work out witcher but would like to thank you for trying all that you did . You spent quite abit of money in this whole thing and also saved some others the $$ to try it themself including me.

Well i guess im no longer interested in this machine then at all till Dell/Alienware gets it sorted out ...


Witcher you still should be able to resell that panel even with the brackets taken off since most people would have to remove them anyhow for there machine.

Like quad said, you should have zero problems selling that panel as it is one of the best 17" lcd's you can get.

 

A few Clevo users would like to get their hands on that TLA2. However, all hope is not lost. If you can find the proper motherboard cable that is compatible with the socket on the LG, then you can make it happen.

 

That cable might be hard to come by even if it exists at all . The one that connects to the motherboard might be specific to the M17x . Not positive on that though but i guess it depends how determined you are to make it work .

 

well that's ok thank's guys i try but i guess is not my time i still like my machine and the dimming issue is something i can live with
