    Hi,
Just a quick question regarding the graphics card upgrades that were available on the R1 M17x,
I seem to recall paying more for my 280GTXs as they were an upgrade to the 4870 (at least in the UK, I did notice the US website had the 4870 Crossfire as more expensive and better then the 280GTX SLI where as the UK it was the opposite)

I just wondered as i am quite sure that they cost me more then the 4870 Crossfire would have and if i am going to get them swapped due to stutter, I don't want to lose out.

    Thanks for any help!

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking here. If you are asking if you will be compensated for the price difference between the 280s and the 4870 option if Dell decides to swap cards due to the stuttering issue described here - then I would say that is something which you will need to discuss with the tech handling your service call. Nobody here can determine this. Its a Dell decision.

If I misuderstood your question, please clarify. Thanks :)

    Sorry about that,
I meant when i originally ordered the M17x in Late december, Does anyone remember the price difference between the 280GTX and the 4870 Crossfire?

As in the UK the 280GTX (Where as the US site said it was the 487Xfire) was the Max you could get, I want to know if it did infact cost me more because if a swap to 4870s is going to fix this stutter i'd rather not lose a few hundred pound that could have been spent on another upgrade.

Hmmm... You know - I'm not sure. I want to say the 280 SLI option was the more expensive option at the time, but with the UK site - not sure. May want to check your invoice and then post the cost and ask for another UK owner who purchased the UK ATI option to post theirs. Just not sure. Sorry :(

I checked the invoice and it doesn't look like there is a break down of costs.

I'm pretty sure there was a price difference regarding 280s > 4870, I just want to get my facts straight before I moan about anything.

U.S. was only $100.00 more for the ATi 4870s back in november, I think it's still the same.

    Thanks everyone,

Thats what I thought too, After Dell announce what it to be done in regards to the DPC issue whatever it may be, I'm not accepting 4870s :p
