Hi, I just got a M17x R1 yesterday. I am running the latest graphics drivers from the dell website listed April 05, 2010, and flashed to the A03 bios. The problem is when I unplug the AC cable the computer shuts down. I have made sure that battery is enabled (FN-F2) and it does the same thing. Stealth mode seems to work and I have tried this in full power and stealth mode and it shuts down each time when power is unplugged and doesn't seem to go to the battery. Any idea what would cause this? I'm assuming its a driver issue. Thanks!

Can you power on the laptop with battery only?

Hi I just tried to restart on battery and was not able to. I flashed to AO3 from AO2 right after I received my system. I wondering if that would be the issue. Looks like I'm calling dell.

I had to fix my battery using electrical tape. Took very small pieces & placed them on the 3 black tabs on the battery to increase the tightness of the battery when it's resting in place. Before if I moved my laptop or tapped it on battery it would shut off randomly. Now with it being more secure it rarely ever happens(BUT STILL DOES SOMETIMES). Since I've had mine since November & just dealt with the problem myself, I seriously doubt that Dellienware would do anything for me. A new battery is not going to fix the issue for me, its a loose fit between my computer/battery. Would sure be nice if I could complain & get a swap for an R2......Wishful thinking but highly improbable.
