    Hi All

I know that there is already a thread targeting latency n lockups on the m17x R1..

But in my case i have the new R2 for like a week now.. which supposedly should have been equipped with the latest updates, drivers, bios n etc.. and somehow i experience sometimes sorts of lockups on certain software's for about 2 or 3 minutes, mostly when i try to terminate them, then, usually everything goes to normal again..

I reckon that on my previous laptop all the system used to freeze in 1 go, means i no longer have control on any application outthere, but here its different.. 1 application stop responding but windows 7 and all other applications still work normally as "la vie en rose " :)

Anyone experiencing those same lock ups ?

Not sure if this would help but the M17x R2 that I got last week did not have the latest bios installed. That was the first thing that I did when getting it out of the box was to update that. I have not seen any lockups.

But to be more specific now, each time i run internet explorer, for each tab opened or i wanna open, it asks me to allow realplayer scheduler, when i choose " don't allow" explorer lock up, but still, in this situation i can manage to force close it..

In other situations and other lock up's, i cant even close the program, or end task from task manager cause nothing will happen.. and all i got to do is wait

The latest R2 BIOS is only at A02. Go to Dell's website and search the drivers for the R2 and not the R1. Reinstall all the drivers for the M17x-R2 and then see what happens. If you are only having problems with one program then maybe it's the application itself? Or is it with multiple programs?

I have had my R2 for almost 4 weeks now and have had no problems at all.

not yet.. but i want to check whats with this realplayer thing.. why it keep asking me to allow on each tab.. i will check first if its a plug in within the real player that\s making a conflict with explorer on windows 7..

regarding the bios .. the thread is referring to A02.. what about the A03, on Dell it says its urgent..

See my post above about the BIOS version. A03 is for the R1, not the R2. Totally different models.

EDIT: Link to M17x-R2 drivers here

to be fair i am really liking the R2.. just this explorer thing which it didnt occur at first .. maybe a plug in compatibility now..
and some minor lockups that seems not popping up anymore.. i will have to wait so i can tell.. its running smooth now
