(Can anyone tell me how to get the HTML table to come up to the top of the page?)

I have found the following while looking for reseller versions of the M17x.
Sam's Club and Costco versions require a membership (starting at $40) to purchase from them. Both of these include shipping in the prices. The Costco versions offer silver or black. Costco prices are good until 7/31: after that they go up $300-500.

Sam's Club wins. It has the 1920x1200 screen and sli and decent CPU.

At least out of those is what I would do. The screen is the only thing I wont mess with in a laptop haha. And the SLI is a win because getting cards your self is a royal PITA

The sams club one seems to be the best deal out of any of em' so far. Then you could just buy a better proc online and you'd be set. Out of curiosity, how far could you OC the Q9000?

2.4 GHz on Q9000 seems to be common. And for a quad that is execllent and will remove any bottleneck.

I'm not so sure. Games that aren't optimized for multicore systems (or not optimized past dual core) won't perform too well at 2.4.

Sam's and Costco read like Dell does it...at least the terms are the same. Don't know what you get at Best Buy.

Has anyone been successful in getting Dell to match any of this? My sales rep just basically laughed at me and has not returned my email in 3 days. I take that as a no on my end. :)

if you order that sams club version from dell, after tax and shipping it's like $2,759.18. But even after a 40 buck membership, and tax you're still saving like 400 bucks... thats insane.

Sam's club passes on the volume discount they're getting by ordering "Plenty" of these machines. Great deal IMO.

True. BUT the BB version also saves you ~$350. So if you can find one with a config you like it doesn't make sense to order from Dell.

if you want upgrades down the road on these, will AW still provide them as if you had ordered direct from dell?

    Sure.

It is still sold and manufactured by Dell. The warranty is the same from Dell.

You could buy one from a reseller on ebay and still get upgrades and service from Dell.

So those are not privileges for the original owner only? The way most warranties are? Because that would be awesome.

I am not sure what you mean by that but I assume you are talking about warranty transfer?

If so, Dell has a form online to transfer the warranty to another person.

Awesome. Dell just went up a notch in my book! (and coming from the desktop world where you avoid them strongly, that means something)

Can you rephrase this. I didn't understand it. :D Sam and Costco's warranty terms are identical to Dell's?

It isn't sams or costco that warranties it - it's Dell.

The warranty is the standard 1 year, although either can offer an extended Dell warranty I believe.

Think of it this way: You are just giving Sam's or Costco your money instead of Dell. Everything is the same.

    Thanks for that sleey0.

Another question for someone who's a Sam's Club member. Can you please go to this page, add it to your cart and choose Jersey (07031) as the shipping place? I'd like to see how much it would cost in total.

A somewhat odd favor so thanks in advance, guys. :)

I've calculated it and it should be $2266.26 in total. I'm wondering if that's an accurate figure.

I could do it myself, but I plan on becoming a member once I have the funds to purchase my notebook. $888.26 more to go. Whee. :D

Seeing that the price says shipping included (see pic) you should already have an accurate figure :D

I just did some checking on this. At Sam's Club, the 1-Year warranty is provided by Dell, but extended warranty is only available through Sam's Club.

One would think you could extend it beyond a year through Dell before or after the warranty is up.

The page you linked didn't work.

I am almost 100% positive that you can extend and/or upgrade the warranty after you purchase from a reseller.

If not, then just upgrade/extend thru the reseller.

I've chatted with a rep and he/she confirmed that you can extend the warranty through Dell.

Too bad the few Alienware resellers have such poor reviews in Reseller's Rating.com though. Does anyone here have any experience purchasing from Sam's Club?

Glad to hear that. If I can afford to get the M17x, the Sam's Club version is looking like the one I'd buy.

I have purchased appliances and TVs from Sam's Club. They are usually OK to deal with, and I've never had a problem returning merchandise if it didn't work.

Tax depends on what state in the U.S. you're ordering from.

    For me it's $2848.11 after tax&shipping or $2616.48 with EPP after tax&shipping.
