    Hey everyone,

I've tried searching this before and had no luck getting any answer so I figured I'd post this up before I went to class. I have my M17x with a Tv Tuner but I'm a bit confused as to how it all works. Is it possible, that through a cable wire, I can watch tv on my laptop?

    Thanks

When I got mine (AVerTV Hybrid NanoExpress), it came without software/drivers. I had to download the drivers from AVerMedia's website. They had a download specifically for Dell. After installation, I was able to set everything up through Windows Media Center.

If it's not too much trouble could you walk me through how to set it all up? Sorry, I'm just completely lost!

    Thanks!

When you are in Windows Media Center, find your way to Tasks/Settings/TV. There you can setup your antenna, etc. After that you can go back out to Guide, and download the latest guide. Be sure to plug in the card and connect your cable first.

Alright thanks, one last question though: where does the card go into?

Into the Express Card slot on the right-hand side, just above the slot-loading dvd drive. The adapter cable snaps into the card. You can then connect your cable or antenna to the other end. Just be careful you don't accidentally knock it around and damage the connector.

I have an AverMedia Hybrid Volar Max, which is a USB tuner. It works great when watching normal TV after downloading the drivers and media center from Aver's website. At the same time, it seems to stutter somewhat when using the video input options - for example if I'm playing my 360 via TV tuner.

It was worse with the 280's; once I put in the ATi's, it worked much better.

OK so I connected the card and then I took a cable and connected the little black wire to the cable jack which is then connected to the cable jack in the wall but I'm still not sure how to get it all working.

Have you installed the driver? If your card is AVerTV Hybrid NanoExpress ATSC, then you can get the driver from here:

    http://ftp.us.dell.com/video/R192957.exe

You can also see the User Guide here:

    https://support.dell.com/support/edocs/acc/P166078/en/index.htm

When it comes to installing the driver, use the one you downloaded from above.

Once the system recognizes the card, start Windows Media Center, and find your way to Tasks/Settings/TV/Set Up TV Signal. Make sure your cable is connected to the card. After you set up your TV signal you can click on the Guide button. Eventually, you will be able to download the latest channel listings.
