Hello, I'll try to keep this as short as I can. Since I've seen so many people wanting to get xp working as well, I thought it might be useful if I made a thread guiding you through it. I have managed to get it working but I must say, eventhough I am a fan of XP, on this particular laptop, you wont have a choice but to double boot. The main reason for this is that while it works quite well, you can't have alienfx / osd. second reason is I still haven't found the wireless drivers therefore you won't be able to use wireless on xp until someone else finds it. Anotherthing, Hybrid graphics doesn't work either. XP sees both graphic card as separate. I use XP for MoHAA, and only MoHAA so since it's an older game the 9400 is fine. but if you have hybrid sli enabled, you will have to use the 9400 unless you want to disable it everytime you boot to xp.

So far, I haven't been able to dual boot with raid. What I did is i "undid" the raid and put the sata mode thing to ATA in the bios. From there you should be able to install xp.

now http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_winxp_186.81_whql.html are the graphics drivers.

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_winxp_15.46_ion.html

    for the chipset, Ethernet card

    http://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/R219000.exe

this is the ONLY audio driver for xp, do not try to install the newest ones from the site.

after this install vista, other wise if you install xp while vista is installed, you will need easyBCD to restore the boot thingy.

i know it doesnt seem much but so many people seemed to not be able to get it to work i thought this might help.I deactivated the things we dont need on xp cause really most people who want xp only want it for older games. if you have ANY questions, ask away

i am trying to install xp on my M17x due to the fact that i cannot get momo racing force feedback wheel to work properly in vista or 7 64bit. I managed to install xp but i cannot run games. an error occurs, do not know what the errors is. Maybe because i do not have all the drivers installed. Can some post the link to the xp drivers in 32 bit or 65 bit. You can contact me at [email protected]

So does this mean there is no way to get RAID going under XP with this laptop. I really don't want to have to use three partitions to avoid wasting space by dedicating a whole disc to XP ?

    Thanks in advance
