Ok guys so one day i shut my computer down and i noticed that my alienhead wasnt glowing. I was fine with that since it turned back on after logging in to windows. Its been like that for like 2 days but justnow i noticed it takes 2 mins for my computer to get off the alienhead boot screen. Then after the windows 7 logo shows up it takes about 6 minutes to finally go into windows. Anyone have any solutions

Are you running RAID?
I'm not and had a similar problem when I was messing around w/the nvidia storage drivers. I disabled command queuing on both hdd's and restarted. Boy was that a mistake! Check to see if this is disabled in your NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA controller -
i dont believe i am running raid, how do i check that anyways. im running one hard drive (im a noob) i dont really no how to check that
-
one hard drive means no RAID. take a look at what I said - it's in the device manager.
-
im not running raid then, any other solutions?
-
try my solution - it happened to me when I wasn't running RAID.
-
Thanks man! U are a lifesaver
-
Ok my bootup is fast now but my lights still dont work when i shutdown
-
Open up Command Center, choose FX, Theme ---> Close, Theme ---> New. See if that works.
-
Batboy:
it doesnt work still -
current version:
v2.0.10 A03, Last Updated: 10/09/2009 -
i am trying that right now
-
uninstalling command center does not work and now when i go to the FX option, it is a red m17x instead of silver.
-
But I don't know what your problem could be. -
i even did a clean install of win 7 and it still doesnt work
and why is my alien power button morphing colors now... -
Do you use CCleaner? If not, I suggest installing it. Follow this process and see if it resolves the issue:
1. Download and install CCleaner.
2. After installing CCleaner, open the Programs & Features Control Panel. Find Command Center and Uninstall it.
3. Once Uninstall is complete, reboot the system into SAFE MODE (F8 key) at BIOS screen.
4. Once in Safe Mode, launch CCleaner and select the Registry Module. Choose 'Scan for Issues' and once the scan is complete - fix all issues. This will wipe out any left over Command Center entries.
5. Once this is done, reboot the system normally.
6. Once back at the desktop, run the installer for Command Center. Once install is complete, reboot.
7. After rebooting, Open up the Command Center and choose FX. Hopefully, you are back to normal at this point.
Also, be sure you are on BIOS A02 and have the current version of OSD installed.
If after trying the above you are still having issues, its time to contact Dell Support. -
will try that now, will come bcak with results
-
i have an unknown device called Coprocessor in device manager, and i cant spot nvidia nforce serial ATA controller
nevermind i figured that out -
Need to reinstall the chipset driver I believe - might need to reference the M17x W7 thread since there is an issue with the chipset driver currently. I'm staying on V64 for now so I don't have specifics. Check the last several pages of the W7 thread and see if you can find which part of the chipset you should not install.
-
i have used the ccleaner thing and am now installing the bios update to see if it works
-
it doesnt work i still have the same problem, its time to contact dell support
-
Keep us updated. Sounds like something is seriously amiss.
-
will call tomorrow since i have to finish all my work today
-
ok i called today and was told to do a clean install again. Now my lights work. I guess all i needed was a clean install again
-
As long as everything is working again... if you have no issues, I'm going to close this thread since the problem has been resolved.
