    Hello,
I just bought my brand new M17x but I found out that it doesn't have an "S/PDIF out" port. Does anyone know what would be the best solution to add an S/PDIF to the M17x?

    Thank you

just use a receiver that has HDMI......the HDMI can carry a higher bandwidth signal that SPDIF can anyway. You can use it for just sound and not audio if you want.

Thats great. I wonder how it works visually? Hopefully in my situation I can make it work viewing just my videos and leave my pictures out. :D LOL

Just buy a usb adaptor that has optical output. I use it, and the sound is good. either 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 depending on the video file audio codecs.

Unfortunatelly my receiver only has optical inputs, no HDMI. But regarding the USB adaptor, what kind can I use? I've used the Audio Advantage Micro from Trutle Beach in the past but that one had pops and clicks in the audio when using as S/PDIF. I guess it's due to the fact that the usb can't handle the audio bandwith. Please let me know if there is a better one out there.
    Thanks.

those pops are most likely due to DPC latency not the adapter or USB

this is a known issue on the M17x and a fix is in the works

    Brand: SIIG
    Model: USB Soundwave 7.1 Pro.

They are pretty cheap and sounds great when hooked up to Digital Surround Sound Receiver.

You also have to use a software to force the Digital output. I have to do a search to see what software it was. I haven't not played with it with m17x yet. I used it on my Sony Vaio.
