Hey Guys -
I was planning on purchasing a SACD, Boston [SUPER AUDIO CD - DSD], from amazon.com... But wanted to know if the M17x drive can read SACD's?
I know my creative sound card can handle 24bit/96hz audio files, but since SACD have a different sort of layer (DSD), im not sure if it supports this?
I know some drives will still, essentially, read the disk but only as a regular cd...I need it to actually read the DSD layer to get the extra punch of audio extras in a SACD
thanks guys

I think I figured it out... I dont think it plays this...
Any idea if there coming out with a SACD drive for the PC genre (laptops/desktops) -

I'm not really familiar with that particular format. I would have thought the PC optical drive can at least read from the disk, even if it can't play the media. But if SACDs are formatted differently, then it probably wouldn't....

There is no known hardware or software that will read the SACD layer on an SACD - only the CD layer can be read.
