    Hello,
I'm one new owner of an Alienware M17x and I received mine in January 4th.

I was wondering how can I get a full money refund or a Store Credit, since my m17x has four problems so far.

    1:
My keyboard has 4 failing keys, the "F", "S", "J" and "5" on the num-pad, I have to hit them harder than other keys to get them to work, and they're failing a lot, it's a physical problem, they make different sounds when I'm typing.

    2:
Audio stuttering when SLI is enabled, I did a remote support with the technical support, and they pushed me to do a fresh re-install of the Windows 7 but the problem persists.

    3:
When I laid my left hand right on the left side of the laptop, it's making some noises like the laptop has some parts that are not tight enought and seems that I am squeezing them. Annoying sounds.

    4:
On the right top of the chassis the alluminium is like 1 milimeter wrong placed, and it seems that it was not built right, but this problem is just visual, doesn't affect anything at all on my monitor.

So, if anyone have tips or some specific ways to do get refund or a credit on the store, cause I would like to have the new M17x R2.
Do I need to talk to someone to do it quickly?

Because I am brazilian and I am coming back to Brazil in march, so I need to hurry.

    Thanks.
    Gustavo / SpinalGT

Also I have another problem, my house keeper messed up with my stuff and I'm not finding the mouse pad and the Alienware Resource disc, do you know if that's a problem to return it?

It took 8 days for them to refund my card after I returned my second bad M17x. As for time to get a replacement you'll want to order the M17x-R2 as soon as you can to meet your deadline. I ordered mine on 1/15 and the estimated ship date is 2/1. Hard to say what the actual time will be since it's a brand new system and demand seems to have already delayed some parts, such as the stock Core i5 in the base package.

I had 2 full laptops I sent back (original and replacement) and I did not send the mouse pad back with either and was never charged for them. I can't say what they'll do about the DVDs but I wouldn't worry too much since I'm sure they'll never resell them.

I need to contact them tomorrow, cause today I've worked all day and didn't have time, but you will get your money back within 24 hours? or is it just the call?

I would like to know the estimated time to get the money back, or at least some kind of credit to buy online, because if it's quick then I'm gonna order my M17x-R2 tomorrow then.

    Thanks..

Spinal, hope this helps. I sent mine back a few days ago and here is the email copy and pasted from my inbox regarding my issue. I sent mine back since there were some minor issues and I wanted the R2. Called them on day 26 after recieving it which technically puts me outside the 21 day period but they showed some leeway since I had it shipped overseas to an APO

Oh my god, so 12-15 business days, so it takes like 5-7 business days to reach dell + 12-15, what can be like 22 business days, almost a month to get my money back.....

That probably cuts my chances off to get R2 before march when I am coming back to my country. I don't have the money to get the R2 without having to wait for the refund.

    Thanks.

No problem, I'm thinking it might be quicker, but if thier is anyway to do it by credit, you might be able to work it out. But there is another thread here, give me a few min. to dig it up on ordering from Dell US. It may pertain to you.

When you get enough posts (I think it's 10) you can send a PM. Contact this Forum member and he should have the information. I'd go around and make posts in other topics on questions you might have. This was on page 47 of the R2 Owners lounge. He should be making a thread on it sometime in the next 24 hours or so from reading subsequent posts after post #465.

you guys act really too fast. Why you order right now? some months later, we will have the ATI 5870 available, and you still will request a return for the new options?

I want to say: keep what you have now and wait for at least 6 months or 1 year, we will have better things available.

    hey there SpinalGT.
I believe DR650SE is referring to me in his post.
I have just opened a thread today about buying from Dell US for non Us citizens. have a read if you will..
BTW, saw you're Brazillian, i've lived in Brazil (curitiba and sao paulo) for a while and i am even married to a Brazillian.
From my experience with brazil, you'll have the most laptop when you get back there :)

    Hehehe!
