Yup i rang them today as well and got told June...

    Grrr Argh!!!

It won't be worth getting one soon, what with Monty and the new processors on the way... might wait until next year for the newer version with the 9800gtx graphics card in it... if they do one lol

they will never give you the exact date because if they did there would be so much chat about it on here and then they have lost the surprise factor for their new release.

What I will call surprise factor is that they improve there QUALITY and SERVICE. Base on so many bad reviews I am not sure if I will buy a m17x.

Guys you have to consider at least 2 months to debug the laptops in the filed. So September could be a save date to buy a more or less stable m17x

At the m oment all i want to know is how much it's going to cost...

I'm saving up for it but a figure to aim for would be good.

@MrDj, Are you going to try the m17x once you've got your refund. I'm hoping that they have learnt from the mistakes with the m15x and that because it's using a larger chasis it will have the same cooling as the XPS 1730... (",)

i reckon it could be another 500 quid on top but thats just a guess.

now let me think about that one.... m17x ...... DONT THINK SO :D
id give it at least 6-8 months after its release because there is no way im going through all that ruddy stress again.

    I can't say that i blame you...

I'll get one as soon as i have the money which will be around August, providing it's actually released by then and someone doesn't release a better Monty'd notebook in the meantime.....

The surprise factor is going to be when they realise that most of their potential customers haven't bought it because they got fed up of listening to rumour on when it's going to be released and bought from a competitor. I really don't understand why they can't just come out and say:
    1. It's going to be out on X date
    2. We've got a bit of trouble with suppliers but we'll keep you updated. (they'd need to actually keep us updated as well)
    3. We're so incompetent and don't really care about our customers so we're not going to tell you or we don't know anyway
I'd have more respect for them even if they said number 3, at least they'd be honest then!

I think Alienware hasn't yet grasphed the fact that customers care a lot about frequent updates and to create an illusion that they are more important than anything.

I mean, take for example the planet outage a lot of you might have heard about - in my opinion the communication with the customers was truly remarkable, although it could still have been better especially in the early stages. Providing hourly updates, audio updates and providing the customer with alternative options e.g. want us to physically move the server to our different DC 4 miles away?

If Alienware was in their place.. they'd be nothing after these 4 long days.

alien ware is a hardware company and not to mention a a online retailer..

there behavior in the release of information is fairly normal tbh.. they want people to Spend money now rather than later..

also beacuse they are not a Massive company leeks are non existent from the videos they release it looks like all the high end US staff are basically just a bunch of Lan buddies.

Very true, the updates from theplanet was very very impressive. Even an audio broadcast from their Director!
