I'm looking for an external hard drive to attach to the M17x. I'd preferably use an eSATA connection (speed). The M17x has a combo eSATA/USB2.0 2 in 1 port. Now, my (noob) questions:

    1. the specs say 'combo port'. Does this mean it aslo functions as a 'normal' eSATA port?
    2. Is there somebody already successfully using this connection and with what model of hard drive? (I'm looking for 640GB to 1 TB storage)
    3. Is separate power supply for the hard drive required?

    Thanks for your advice.

    1. Combo port means you can plug either a USB OR eSATA cable into the port and it will work properly with both.

    2. Any external hard drive will work with the eSATA port

    3. you will need to plug the external hard drive into a wall outlet as well as the laptop's power adapter.
