I believe the OP is referring to the fact that in the Nvidia Control Panel, you can select either 59Hz or 60Hz as a refresh rate, but after selecting 60Hz and then hitting "Apply" the refresh rate just reverts back to 59Hz.

Sorry RH, I do know exactly what you're talking about but I'm at a loss as well. Maybe someone with more knowledge on the subject will chime in.

Which driver are you using? Someone from Alienware tech support installed the 195.62 driver directly from the Nvidia site because I was having some graphics corruption. I don't believe this is the driver listed on the Dell website.

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure that the driver was listed from dell support page... http://support.euro.dell.com/suppor...typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&fileid=341041

It's 186.64 not 195.62, if you go to nvidia web site and let them check your graphic card automatically, you'd find 195.62 is not suit for M17x R1(don't know why but it shows 186.64 is the latest driver... :) )

I'm aware that the 184.64 is the driver listed on the Dell site and was just offering this as a reason our Nvidia Control Panels were different.
I was having some graphics corruption issues and after getting a black screen on boot, the second Alienware tech I dealt with installed the 195.62 directly from the Nvidia site. I think they were just throwing stuff at the wall to see what stuck. Whatever they did, it's better than it was. I'm still having some latency issues but the computer hasn't black screened since the driver update.

Yes, I'm also confusing about this two drivers(186/195)...So When I was updating the driver on NV web site, I just chose option 2 to let it find drivers automatically...and obviously just got the same reason as what we can get on dell...

Honestly, I had an issue after updated this drive from 179 to 186... When I was playing PES2010 (only happened in this game :( also don't know why) this driver always stop responding for 1 or 2 sec and recovered automatically and I also had the DPC latency issue

But after I disable the PowerMizer every things back to normal(the latency issue was also solved)...So that's why I am till using 186.64 :)

It is pretty confusing. I'm just sticking with 195.62 because it's working much better than it was when running the driver from the Dell site. One other thing I like about the 195.62 is the ability to set Power Management Globally, as well as on a program by program basis which I don't remember being able to do with the old driver. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread. We still haven't figured out why the OP and myself cannot change the refresh rate from 59Hz. I'm interested as to what driver the OP is using?

Sorry for the late response. I'm using the latest drivers as well...!
