M17x no longer available?

What happend to the M17x? It only shows me m15x and m17 options.. Did they take both the m9750 and the m17x out for the new laptop?

 

NOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo....What..the..not cool. I was going to buy one after the allpowerful came out...why did they do this. WTB m17x if any1 has one that is suped up.

If the M15x does get the axe I would assume a replacement was coming next month.

 

Ill think about it, depends how expensive the allpowerful is. If I can configure one for under 3k that is sufficient i will be happy. If not...i will search these forums for a m17x or m17

Clauss: You are giving yourself <$3,000 to configure it? I think that is more than enough. Be happy then. It would make no sense if the thing starts at that much. If it starts at that price it better include an M17x

Well, most people here speculate it will start at 2000~. Historically the starting price has been quite bare with specs. m17/m17x/m15x al suggest that. So i assume by speccing it to my likings WUXGA/at least 320 gigs/lighted keyboard(if it exists)/ and at least a 4870 or a 280 GTX. SLI would probably be quite expensive, i personally doubt i will be able to purchase one for a reasonable price. Hopefully it doesnt break the bank.

 

True. I would think with $2,600 - $2,800 you could get something OK. Remember you could always try very hard to update things yourself, easy things that is.

Yeah, initially i was going to spend around 2000$ on this laptop for college. But if new alienware is coming out...cmon. 2k..2.5k..3k. About the same. Hoping for nvidia graphics so if its ATI i dont have to get a damn good processor since they are dependent. + Anyone with a m17x who wants to sell it cause new stuff

They can't ditch the 15X without having another 15" to replace it with.

I definitely don't get all this "refresh" talk. Isn't it supposed to be (at least from the evidence so far) a new 17"? How is it an M17x refresh?

We should call the M17 the M9750 refresh then.

the m17x body is gonna be the same ... little more flashy etc but its just gonna be updated mobo

You mentioned a new mobo. and we already know the exterior is very different.

So with all that goes with a new mobo, what's left?

IMO, even if the new laptop shares the same internal chassis, I wouldn't call it a refresh. I mean, what percentage of components have to be the same for it to be a refresh of the 17X?

If the only part that is alike is the internal chassis, I'd say it's a new model that uses an existing chassis.

If everything is the same accept the exterior cladding and GPU's then it would seem like a refresh to me.

No biggy, it's just my opinion.

its got alienfx and its exclusive

smart bay , binary gf...etc

 

if the m17 gets the dual 4870's.....this new laptop wont beat it...may look cooler and have more features...but performance will be similar...lest hope flex doesnt screw us

well its still available on uk site, and is on sale, dell is liquidating 17x just like the m1730

W H A T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am glad i bought one when I did. I don't like how flashy the one pic of the new Lap Top looks. Too many lights. I like how stealthy the X looks. I'll be keeping mine for a while, plus once I leave Iraq in about a month and have a life again I dont see myself using a gaming laptop as much, too much fun stuff to do in Cali, and the GF needs some attention after me being gone for a year

 

Because you put so much thought into "M17x?"...

This way people will notice it and stop making multiple threads on the subject.

 

M17x are still available on the international sites.

 

I'm actually a little dissappointed, as I had plans on buying an m17x as well. It seemed to be the most stable notebook Alienware had to offer. Neither the m15x or m17 is up to my standards.

from watching the main site and the UK I notice that things always happen on the UK site after the US site so Im sure its just a matter of time.

Im sad because I still have regrets at times about not getting the M17X. I really fell in love with it and the way it looks. I also wanted the Nvidia cards, but it cost so much more at the time. As soon as I bought my M17 the M17X has just kept dropping in price. When I last looked the other day it was exactly the same starting price....unbelievable.

Yeah Ive just noticed. I got a feeling that they will be a new range of laptops available soon!

What the 17X will be replaced with will certainly be filled with much newer technology

I mean the tech. inside the M17 has been "long in the tooth" for a while now.

 

Those that are excited now may end up being disappointed later.

Expect the worst and you'll never be disappointed but often pleasantly surprised.

 

Well I, for one, have more faith in Alienware than in cliche's.

I am expecting very good things from "All Powerful".
