i have a q9000, i raised the fsb by 20 and my computer refuses to turn on now, i took out the cmos battery and now its fine. How come i can't even overclock by just increasing 20

You need to understand fsb:memory ratios. Raise your FSB even higher and I bet it will boot.

It's different with each proc. I set my FSB at 1280 on my q9000 (2.4GHz) and it worked smoothly.

Just keep testing until you find what works best.

The proc will down-clock when not in use to save power.

What make you think it's not working? You tested with OCCT?

Yep if it comes out fine in OCCT then it's working without a hitch.

You MAY want to try overclocking even further. Although it's rare, some Q9000 users can hit 1333 on the FSB. You could even get to something like 1300 or 1310 if 1333 isn't working for you.

By the way, the reason only some users can hit 1333 is due to the processor manufacturing process. Each one is individual and can take different clock rates.

It's a shame the M17 doesn't have overclocking available in the BIOS, seeming as I've got a very nice Q9000 that can go up to 1333 on the FSB...

Some people get above 1333 so 1300 is nothing strange.

If you're testing with OCCT then you're doing nothing wrong. Be happy you're getting that high. :p

By no means. Try to push it even higher if you like. I doubt it'll go much further than 1333 but give it a shot and see how high you can go. (Some Asus W90 users can hit like 1400-1500, but that's because they have a much better northbridge in that lappy, so don't try it)

2.5 is better than most people have been able to get out of a Q9000, congrats dude! (same speed as a stock QX9300 now pretty much ;) )
