I have been playing Starcraft 2 beta, and my one gpu has been reaching temps of 106c. It is very odd, only the left gpu is reaching these temps, and the right is around 67c. I recently reinstalled Windows Vista on my laptop and havent updated any of the drivers. Apparently, there is a fix for overheating gpus and Starcraft 2 beta by capping the fps, I tried this and even lowered what was the recommended cap and am still getting very hot temps. So you can imagine that even before I capped the fps I was running even hotter temps. What can I do to fix this?

Sounds like there is just something wrong with your card... Temps should never get that high in this computer, the highest I have ever seen on mine (after hours of Crysis) is in the high 80's range.

Are you using your computer in a well-ventilated area? Make sure the fans aren't being blocked by anything.

Someone else here may have something to suggest that may help you, but to me it sounds like a faulty card in some way unless it's just a problem with SC2... Does it overheat like this in other games?

The last time I gamed on this computer was about 3 months ago and that was playing WoW, all highest settings and everything was fine. I am playing on some books leveraged on my bed. Yes I am starting to think that I have a faulty card aswell because my right GPU temps are only around 70 while the left side is extremely hot.

One, I know the latest nvidia drivers are causing fans on the cards to idle or stop even during high useage. It could also be that your secondary fans have failed. Both fans on my M17x have.

Well I've updated my drivers, the game now runs at about 75c which is a major improvement. However this is not at ultra gfx and my fps is still locked at 20 so im going to change all of this and monitor again.

Just finished running the game with all ultra settings and locked fps to 60 instead of 20. Once again, I am reaching temps of about 105c. However my left gpu is running around 100c and the right running at 105c, so the driver update must have helped. Anybody have any thoughts onto what could be the problem? Is it just SC2? I am starting to think so as I have heard that other peoples gpu's have been overheating.
