AW has dropped the price of the m17x again. It is now $1499.
But even at that price the M17 is still better buy IMO.
If AW can put the 3870s in the m15x, why not put them in the M17x as well.
It's a shame because the M17x is such a nice looking notebook. But it's looks don't justify spending up to 1k more of a similar spec'd M17.

-
i agree they should put the m17 in a m17x body i would be so happy
-
Yeah, the M17x should actually be priced at 1 to 2 hundred dollars below the M17. It's starting price of course can't be equal to the M15x. That would be insane.
But you can't even say that the extra money you're spending is going to the lights. Really it's not. It's going into the Nvidia Graphic gards.
Two 9800 GT cost $850, where two 3870s cost $250. That's the deal breaker right there. Plus the M17x should come standard with 2G at that same price, just like the M17. 1G standard is just terrible.
AW and Dell together, have to get Nvidia to drop their prices. ATI is starting to take more and more sells away from them, all because of price. -
yea ..n the 1900 screen is 300
and 850
for sli thats just stupidd
-
Yeah, but the 850 for 9800 is nVidia's doing AW has to try to get some profit from it.
Upgrades like RAM and Screens should equal across the board. I don't understand why DD2 memory can cost more then DD3 memory.
I know most people go to newegg and upgrade themselves but the standard RAM in both have to factor in the starting price of the NB.
I really like the M17x, it's style is really cool. But I don't like the M17x price. If the M17 and M17x was equal across the board price wise. Then the choice would a lot harder. But until nVidia comes down on price on the 9800s, it's still a no brainer. M17 all the way.
nVidia probably won't budge on that price until they release the next card. -
-
Then the M17x was destined to fail from the start. I'm willing to bet that it's RAM and CPU were both outdated on it's launch date.
AW, should just bite the bullet on it. Drop it's price like crazy. Sell out it's stock so it can completely focus on the M17 or the replace for the M17x.
Unless there is a M17x refresh in the works............................... -
I think their probably would be a refresh. It would of cost alot to make their own unique laptop, so they will want to do it justice...
-
Well the M17x last price only lasted two weeks (if that) before they dropped it again. If they drop it any lower, then I think AW is letting the M17x head out to pasture.
-
Did they ever release the skullcap for the m17x?
-
No, that's another thing I kept my eye on. The M17x never got the skullcap.
-
Nope, the m17x never got a skullcap version. If I'm not mistaken 9800's SLi beats the HD3850 Crossfire's. AW wants the m17x to be better than the m17 I guess.
-
It's still has older specs than the M17. It'll be $1299 by next month.
-
Less then the M9750 which is currently $1399? I think we'll see the M9750 say bye-bye before that.
-
Although when you try to package it comparable to the M17 the price rises dramatically, the M17 is still the better buy imo.
I also do love the shell and lighting options better on the M17X, maybe someday they will make this option available, for a small price.
-
Yeah the only way the M17x can compete with the M17, if nVidia completely loses their mind and drop the price on the 9800s. Until then, it's not a fair fight. M17 will win every time.
-
They (nVidia) have been getting paid long enough, if they would drop the price it would increase the sales, yes supply and demand but the price they charge is a bit inflated.
-
One way to look at it is AW is tried of losing out on the M17x because of nVidia so they're lowering the price of the M17x, getting it ready for a refresh with ATI 3870s and 4870s.
-
Could be plus they just put a handful on ebay.
-
You can get a refurb for 2.2k to. But they come with dual 8700s.
That's like putting a 4 cyclinder in your Corvette. -
I am still trying to figure out why the m9750 is still there. Who the hell would buy it with the m17 and m17x with a lower price there?

Someone with very little knowledge of computers and this site.
