Hi guys! first of all ive had nothing but issues with my R1! ive had the gfx card replaced from day 1, temp issues, and the latency lag thing! i phoned up alienware and made my case to the tech guy, and bascially said with the issues ive had and currently have with temps of 90 gaming on the R1 i would like a R2 up to the price i paid for my R1 (£3850) and my warrenty is 3 years! He said he would contact his manager and phone me back on monday!
Do you think i have a chance?
    thnx

Cool. Yeah they usually try and replace parts before resorting to replacing with r2.

You have a really good system, it is a shame you have had so many problem with it. If you are going to get a replacement, They should give you the extreme processor(EXTREME to EXTREME) and daul 4870s, this should be a minimum. Try getting better specs as much as you can, afterall you are just wasting words for a replacement rather than wasting lots of money.

ye the price of afull kitting R2 is less than my R1 so i should get all the top bits, if not ill just complain more ;P but well see how the replacements go first and fore most=)

They did in my case. They replaced my R1 with R2 with an upgrade to extreme processor and rgb led for my probs.. However, regular tech would not do it, the supervisor would not do it, the manager would not do it. I had to get into contact with corporate.. Once they reviewed my account and all I did, he put in the order right away.. It just took forever to get the system.. All i have to say now, is it was definitely worth the wait.. I love the R2... no more micro stuttering.. the system seems tons quicker than my r1... I will know the true story after a week of having it.. This weekend I am gonna run occt to just to really stress it to make sure.

You just need to get in contact with the right person to make it happen.

ye they said they will replace the parts 1st, i know for a fact the micro stuttering will still be there as theres no perma fix on the latency lag! so ill get them replaced this week and phone them next week to say the issue is still there! How u finding the ati cards kil? im not use to them and peeps say the nvida are better? o0
edit how did u get in touch with the corporate? also hows the LED screen in comparison to the r1 cathod tube thing?

LOL....Understatement....I had a tech come yesterday to try and replace the case/mobo. While taking it apart the speaker & fan was broken, and the palm rest received a nice gash from a screwdriver. Needless to say I was not a happy camper....especially since I try to baby it myself. The alienware tech I have been dealing with though is super cool & is replacing all the parts for me & sending a different tech today. If this doesn't work I don't know what they're going to do.

Well the ati cards are doing great in this system. I seem to be getting better frame rates. In the R1 they were ok but I thought the nvidia's ran better in it. Overall I have been pleased.. The software package 10.3+ is excellent and has better features that then nvidia did. There will always be that back and forth battle.. nvidia>ati or ati>nvidia ect.. I have always been nvidia until this notebook and the dpc crap... I am starting to like em the more I use them.

With my company I have a corporate contact that I can reach out to and I did and he got me to someone that handled my account.. Sorry I cant share that info. :-(

OMG the rgb is so much better.. playing wow i can read the text and see it clear on the screen since wow relies on that heavily.. on the ccfl it sucked and I hated it... I had to stress my eyes to be able to keep up on it.. plus the insane bleed on the screen sucked along with inconsistent lighting on the screen drove me crazy.. I hated it so much i refused to use the screen unless I had to.. I mainly used my Samsung xl2370 RGB LED external monitor..

With the new RGB screen i totally enjoy it now.. I had to turn down some of the red and all since it was a bit over saturated but other than that. .Very nice!!! I need to test in a bright room and see how it does as the ccfl failed miserably there. I completely recommend the RGB screen.. Push for that upgrade over processor if you have a choice.. You can always do processor yourself at a good price... The RGB is another story...
