Ive had my R2 for a little more than a month and am a little mad. When i placed the order there was no option for a bluray drive and since i own a good amount of blu ray movies im wondering how i can obtain a blu ray drive and if its easy to instalL?

you can order the drive from dell. You will have to open up the laptop to install it since its a slot loaded drive. It shouldn't cause you too much trouble but it will take some time.
-
Do you have any idea on the price? would it be cheaper somewhere else? just talking about the reader not the writer
-
Also what do you know about ssd's recommend any that wont leave your wallet flatter than a single dollar bill.

This is NOT my auction nor am I 100% sure this is compatible but http://cgi.ebay.ca/Alienware-m17x-B...ge_Internal?hash=item4cee49f81d#ht_500wt_1182
these show up now and then. I would ask someone who is better with hardware to make sure it will fit and work however. If it does the price seems pretty good. Also if you check the M17x general info thread stickied at the top it has a number of picture guides for installing upgrades to the laptop.
Edit: Regarding SSDs, some say the Kingston V-series are good for the price, or wait until fall when the gen 3 drives supposedly come out, probably at cheaper prices per gig. -
I have no idea about the price, I imagine it will cost more than $150 though, call alienware and get pricing then look online.
For ssd's it all depends on how much space you are looking for and what you consider a reasonable price. I'm looking to pick up the intel x25m 80 gig which is around $220 on newegg. -
lol thats only like 10 bucks more then what dell is charging for refurbished dvd rw drives on the site. thanks for the link though i contacted them to get the model number and condition of the drive. looks like the seller can be trusted.

Is the intel x 25m 80 gig a fast drive compared to the kingston v series, cause i was looking at tigerdirect.com cause there warehouse is a 20 min drive from my house and the kingston v series retail kit is i think 269.99 its a 128g drive

The Intel's are definitely faster than Kingston V-series, but obviously the Intel ones come at a much higher price, it all depends on what you see as worth it.
